Patent number: 6836954Abstract: Rotor for an electric motor that comprises a core (1), segments of a cylinder (5, 6, 7) made of magnetizable materials, a substantially cylindrical retaining wrapper (10) whose end portions are joined to at least a pair of plane elements (8, 9). The rotor also comprises first elastic means (11, 12, 13) having a length that is not smaller than the length of the core and being supported by means (2, 3, 4) that are integrally provided in the core parallelly to the axis of rotation (X) of the rotor, which interfere with contiguous longitudinal edges of the segments of a cylinder so as to keep said segments circumferentially spaced from each other. In a preferred manner, the rotor also comprises second elastic means (21-26) which are adapted to make up for the longitudinal and radial plays of the various parts of the rotor so as to ensure that the outer surface of the segments of a cylinder keeps in contact with the inner surface of the wrapper. The invention further relates to a method for producing the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1999Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: Zanussi Elettromeccanica S.p.A.Inventors: Fabrizio Carli, Matteo Bellomo

Patent number: 6668571Abstract: A refrigerant compressor driven by an electric motor, whose supply frequency is selectively variable between a discrete number of values (f1, f2, fT) as a function of an input signal, uses control means integrated in the compressor to monitor two or more quantities that are variable with time in a mutually independent manner, of which at least one is representative of the actual operating conditions of the appliance. The control means also generates the input signal with a value that corresponds to a pre-established combination of the monitored quantities.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2002Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: Zanussi Elettromeccanica S.p.A.Inventors: Tiziano Bertotti, Fabrizio Carli, Roberto Peruzzo

Patent number: 6450785Abstract: A hermetic motor compressor unit for household and similar refrigeration appliances, comprising a sealed casing having a bottom that forms a sump for holding lubricating oil. Inside of the casing is a compressor and driving motor that share a common hollow crankshaft that rotates about a vertical axis. To ensure effective lubricating oil flow into the hollow crankshaft, a means for providing suction comprising a sleeve is rigidly fixed to the lower end portion of the crankshaft. A fluted member made of a material with a lower thermal conductivity than the material from which the hollow crankshaft is made that is connected to the stator of the drive motor is inserted into the sleeve to draw the lubricating oil from the sump. The lubricating oil is drawn in from the oil sump into recesses in the fluted member when the sleeve is rotated into the position in which it allows the recesses to communicate with lower apertures in the sleeve. This occurs during the downstroke of the fluted member.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Zanussi Elettromeccanica S.p.A.Inventors: Fredrik Dellby, Carlo Zonta

Patent number: 6375439Abstract: Hermetic refrigeration compressor, in particular for household refrigeration appliances, comprising control and connection means, such as a motor overload cutout (13) provided with a protective support (14), an electric motor starter (16), a terminal block (17) with related strain-relief (18), and a closing cover (27), in which some of these component parts are integrated into a single one-piece construction (15). The cover (27) is mounted slidably in a direction which is tangential to the casing (10) of the compressor. This solution is advantageous in that it cuts the number of parts to be assembled and reduces the amount of space required to accommodate the compressor.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Zanussi Elettromeccanica S.p.A.Inventor: Roberto Missio

Patent number: 6178873Abstract: A piston and connecting rod includes a connecting rod supporting a piston. The connecting rod has a piston end, with the piston being supported on the connecting rod so that it is moved away from the piston end during pivoting of the connecting rod in response to a predetermined angular movement of its crank end so as to maintain the compression ratio during the combustion phase and increase the dwell period of the piston prior to its descent. The piston includes a rounded recess underneath, and the connecting rod includes a terminal portion with a shape to pivot within the recess. An elastic element snaps into recesses of the piston to hold the rod and piston together.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: Zanussi Elettromeccanica S.P.A.Inventors: Emilio Pierobon, Arcangelo Santamato
