Abstract: A dental device for cleaning oral interproximal spaces, a flosser cartridge for engagement in the dental device, and method of use thereof. The implement includes a housing which receives a cradle carrying a cartridge stack. The cradle and cartridge stack are rotated by manipulating a control knob at a rear end of the housing. Rotation of the cradle causes the flosser cartridge stack to be progressively moved forwardly along a helical track toward an opening in the housing's front end. The cleaning tip on a forwardmost cartridge extends outwardly through the opening and is covered by a cap prior to use. The cap is removed when the user wishes to clean their teeth. The forwardmost cartridge is snapped off the stack and disposed of after use. Rotation of the cradle moves a second cartridge in the stack into the forwardmost position where the second cartridge is then ready for use.

Once used, a cartridge is removed from the sleeve and may be discarded or inserted into an opening to the bore in the sleeve's second end. The tip may be snapped off prior to insertion. The cartridge stack is drawn along the bore as the uppermost cartridge is removed or insertion of the spent cartridge will advance the cartridge stack along the bore.

A bristle array is provided on each side and the bottom and apex are free of bristles. The bristle array is configured as a sinuous or serpentine wave. Bristles in each array are smallest closest to an end of the tip and progressively increase in size as you move away therefrom. The toothpick is movable within the case's bore between a fully retracted, a partially extended and a fully extended position. A locking mechanism selectively locks the toothpick in any of these positions. When the toothpick is to be changed, the locking mechanism is disengaged and the toothpick is slid out of the bore and is replaced with a new toothpick.
