Abstract: An air scrubbing system for removing dust produced by longwall shearers from the operator's work area. The system uses a plurality of small scrubbing units mounted on the shearer. Each of the scrubbing units utilizes a series of twin fluid atomizers located at the inlet of the unit to produce a fine water mist for capturing the respirable dust. The scrubbing units return the dust-laden mist to the coal face.
