  • Patent number: 8181796
Abstract: A rack assembly for shipping glass panels includes a base assembly, a deck assembly operatively carried by the base assembly, at least four end insert members operatively carried by the base assembly, at least four vertical assemblies operatively carried by the four end insert members, and at least two brace members. A first one of the brace members is operatively carried by a first pair of the vertically adjustable assemblies, and a second one of the brace members is operatively carried by a second pair of the vertically adjustable assemblies. The vertical assemblies are vertically adjustable relative to the end insert members so as to operatively adjust a height of the rack assembly to a preselected height. The deck assembly and the two brace members are selected from a group consisting of at least two different sizes of the deck assemblies and at least two different sizes of the brace members to be used so as to operatively adjust a width of the rack assembly to a preselected width.

  • Patent number: 7976094
Abstract: A locator pin aligns a glass panel during installation on a vehicle. The locator pin includes a base for affixing to the glass panel in a predetermined position prior to transporting it from a site where the glass panel is formed. A pin body has an elongated portion with a proximal end and a distal end defining a longitudinal axis. A hinge pivotally attaches the pin body to the base at the proximal end so that the pin body pivots between a shipping position wherein the longitudinal axis is substantially parallel to a surface of the glass panel and an alignment position wherein the longitudinal axis is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the glass panel. The folding pin allows glass panels to be stacked closer together in shipping racks when they are transported from the glass fabrication facility to a place of installation.

Abstract: An exemplary embodiment may be directed to a ventilation system including a fan assembly coupled within said interior opening and fully supported on a window pane. The fan assembly includes a fan coupled to a motor and a flap movable from a substantially closed and sealed position to an open position, wherein the open position is characterized wherein a quantity of air can move through said fan assembly from a first side of the window pane through said flap to a second side of the window pane as directed by the rotating fan. The fan assembly also includes at least one solar collector electrically coupled to the motor for receiving and converting sunlight to electrical energy for powering the motor to rotate the fan.

  • Publication number: 20100252787
Abstract: A flat glass panel for use in applications requiring high visible and infrared transmittance (such as a solar panel) is made using lower cost batch materials containing iron oxide impurities. Iron oxide is known as an additive for decreasing infrared/visible transmittance of glass. Removal of iron oxide impurities from batch materials is very expensive. This invention uses common batch materials having iron oxide impurities to produce a glass with high transmittance by adding a clarifier comprised of 0.05 to 0.4 weight percent of manganese dioxide (MnO2). The optional addition of vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) enhances ultraviolet blocking of the glass for protecting coatings within a solar panel from ultraviolet-induced damage.
