  • Patent number: 4343143
Abstract: A binding for bundles of fibers in which fibers originating from at least one of the fiber bundles wind around the rest of the fibers in a manner locked by tension. Fiber bundles which are to be bound are deformed between deformation members and fibers are removed from at least one of the fiber bundles and are wound in a manner locked by tension around the remainder of the remaining pieces of fibers to be bound. Deformation members are positioned very close to each other, each having a profiled surface, and they can be driven in opposite directions with respect to each other. The fiber bundles which are to be bound are deformed in the gap between the deformation members.

  • Patent number: 4122657
Abstract: In monitoring a continuous sequence of work positions on a textile machine for thread breakage, a magnetic probe is driven along a path adjacent the ring traveler at each work position so as to generate a signal upon detection of the traveler as it rotates with the thread and provide no signal when the traveler ceases to rotate due to thread breakage. To simplify the electrical connection to the probe, the drive arrangement for the probe includes at least one conductive metallic drive band connected to the probe and to a driving source for moving the probe along the path past the work positions. A detector is then coupled to the drive band to detect the electrical signals carried thereby from the probe.

  • Patent number: 3971272
Abstract: A method for regulating the operation of yarn clearers having error correcting means such as yarn cutters, and sensing means providing an electrical signal representative of the controlled quality. The method comprises the steps of: feeding the signal from the sensing means to two independent electrical circuit channels each having separate threshold switch means, the threshold switch means of one circuit responsive to signals corresponding to yarn faults of given magnitude. The threshold switch means of the other circuit responds to signals corresponding to faults of given duration. Thereafter, an independent control signal is obtained from each of said channels for initiating the operation of the cutters when a limiting value selected for each of said two channels is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 3958305
Abstract: In order to compensate the combing periods in density fluctuation machine slivers, the density of each of a plurality of slivers is measured to detect the phase positions of the combing periods therein and then the relative positions of the respective slivers are adjusted to place the combing periods in each sliver out of phase with the combing periods in the other slivers before the slivers are combined. The adjustment of the phase position of the slivers is effected by varying the length of the path of the sliver between the combing machine and the point where the slivers are combined.
