Patents Assigned to Zeuna-Starker GmbH & Co. KG
  • Patent number: 7581386
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a diesel propulsion engine and an exhaust system that comprises a discontinuously regenerating exhaust gas purification system. A fuel evaporator unit serves to enrich engine exhaust gases with fuel vapors. The fuel evaporator unit is connected to a vehicle fuel tank, and is provided upstream of the exhaust gas purification system. The fuel evaporator unit includes a fuel evaporator in the form of a heat exchanger that is exposed to the exhaust gas stream. The heat exchanger has a fuel feed line and a fuel vapor discharge. The fuel evaporator unit also includes an auxiliary oxidizing converter connected upstream of the heat exchanger. A percentage of nonburned diesel fuel in the exhaust gases fed into the auxiliary oxidizing converter is adjustable using an enrichment device.

  • Patent number: 7010909
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a diesel propulsion engine having an exhaust system. The exhaust system includes a discontinuously regenerating exhaust gas purification system including a catalytic converter unit for burning diesel fuel catalytically and a fuel evaporator unit connected upstream of the catalytic converter unit. The fuel evaporator unit includes an electrical heating element and is connected to the fuel tank of the vehicle by a fuel line. The fuel evaporator unit is spatial from any exhaust gas carrying components. A fuel vapor feeding channel upstream of the catalytic converter unit discharges into an exhaust gas carrying component and extends between the fuel evaporator unit and an exhaust gas carrying component.

  • Patent number: 5911683
Abstract: An exhaust gas collecting and cleaning device for a multi-cylinder engine comprising an exhaust-gas manifold (1) constructed as a casting and an exhaust-gas cleaning device (5) mounted near the engine, attached to the exhaust-gas manifold (1) and comprising a housing (6) and at least one exhaust-gas cleaning element (14) bedded therein. A tubular section (12), which is constructed as a sheet-metal part and projects from the casting, is cast into the exhaust-gas manifold (1) at the outlet end region thereof. To this there is joined a downstream segment of the housing (6) of the exhaust-gas cleaning device (5). According to an independent embodiment, a downstream exhaust-gas guide element (such as a corrugated pipe) instead of the exhaust-gas cleaning device is joined in corresponding manner to the exhaust-gas manifold constructed as a casting.

  • Patent number: 5285687
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the acoustic examination of a monolith for damage, wherein a blow of defined force is applied by a hard striker to a monolith for its acoustic examination for damage. The sound pressure distribution over a predetermined frequency range, of the sound radiated by the struck monolith is analyzed by a frequency analyzer and the result is compared with a reference curve defined for undamaged monoliths. The device for implementing the process has a receptacle for the monolith to be examined, a striker, capacitor microphones as the sound pressure receivers and an evaluation unit with a frequency analyzer.

  • Patent number: 5001899
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning of a soot filter in the exhaust line of a diesel engine with a combustion chamber placed in front of the soot filter where a fuel nozzle and an adapted electrical ignition mechanism is built in thereby enabling an after burning of the exhaust without secondary air. The exhaust in the combustion-chamber is mixed with the fuel, which is injected through the fuel nozzle, and ignited by an ignition-device with the existing portion of the unburned oxygen. The hot exhaust effects the burn down of the accumulated soot in the soot filter.
