  • Patent number: 7059838
Abstract: A control device for a positive displacement pump includes a throttle device and a flow control valve. The flow control valve includes a flow control piston and is configured to regulate an unrequired excess flow of the pump at an increased speed. The throttle device is configured to produce a speed-related pressure differential in a bore section, the pressure differential being responsible for the displacement of the flow control valve and the throttle device. The throttle device is arranged in the pressure outlet (bore section) of the pump and includes a regulating pin connected to the flow control piston, having a control contour configured so that a modifiable through cross-section is created in association with a throttle bore. The control pin has a wider section in an axial displacement area of the throttle device, the area not being involved in control of the volume flow, whereby a minimum obturating section arises in the displacement area.

  • Patent number: 7040090
Abstract: For a power assisted steering system for vehicles, in particular passenger cars, there is provided a hydraulic circuit with a servopump, a three-way flow regulator valve which is located at the junction between the pump and a servoactuator and has a measuring throttle, located in the inflow to the servoactuator, as a fixed throttle and an outflow throttle which is located in a bypass of the latter and which determines a variable throttle cross section by means of a piston which is charged alternately as a pressure compensator. The piston, which is charged via an active actuator element, changes the outflow throttle cross section as a function of the current applied in order to change the volume flow which passes via the measuring throttle.

  • Patent number: 7035722
Abstract: In a method for operating a steering system for a motor vehicle, a set point torque predefined value is fed to a servomotor as a function of a manual steering torque generated by the driver, in order to generate a motor actuating torque which is to be transmitted to the steered vehicle wheels. A hysteresis torque is taken into account in the set point torque predefined value in order to compensate for the friction in the steering system.

  • Patent number: 7028599
Abstract: In series between pump and tank are two throttle devices, one of which includes a controllable throttle valve having a piston, of which one side supports a valve head, which forms the boundary of an annular gap between an inflow duct and an outflow duct. A hydraulic control path extends from the inflow duct through the throttle opening to the tank, running through a precontrol bore in the piston. To prevent an unwanted leakage fluid stream, one end of the precontrol bore at the annular gap in the region of the inflow duct is positioned so that it remains opened for a closed annular gap, and the other end of the precontrol bore on the other side of the piston is arranged where the piston, in response to the controllable throttle valve being completely opened, pushes against a stop face and, in so doing, automatically closes this other end.

  • Patent number: 6763851
Abstract: A rotary slide valve for power-assisted steering systems of motor vehicles includes a rotary slide which is connected fixedly in terms of rotation to a valve input member. The control bush is connected fixedly in terms of rotation to a valve output member. The two valve elements are arranged so as to be movable coaxially one in the other and are rotatable relative to one another at most by the amount of the rotary travel of a backlash coupling. The rotary slide has outer and the control bush inner longitudinal control grooves which cooperate with one another in order to control a pressure medium to and from two working spaces of a servomotor. The rotary slide is connected to the valve output member via a torsion-bar spring. Production-related tolerances which may lead to undesirable effects in driving behavior are compensated by a connecting element.
