  • Patent number: 4823543
Abstract: Apparatus for spinning yarn from roving including a spinning frame with spinning units arranged thereon. The roving to be drawn is fed from a common double-roving bobbin to each of two neighboring spinning units, further referred to as spinning units pair. At least one stopping device is assigned to each of the spinning units of the spinning units pair, to stop and release again the roving feed to the two drawing frames of the respective spinning units pair. The purpose of the stopping device is to reduce the loss of roving and to avoid the danger of yarn lapping on the drawing rollers. The stopping device can be actuated by each of two yarn break sensors of the spinning units pair for the simultaneous arrest of the roving. In a second embodiment a yarn-setting carriage is provided on the spinning frame to correct a yarn break, such correction occuring only when all correction hindering conditions are absent.

  • Patent number: 4819301
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling the drafing of sliver in a draw frame in which sliver first travels through an advance sensing means that senses variations in the mass, then passes through a drafting means which is located after the advance sensing means and is provided with an adjustable draft, and finally travels through an after sensing means located after the drafting means which senses the mass per unit of length, whereby the draft of the drafting means is varied to compensate for variations in mass of sliver in response to the sensed variations in mass evaluated in a time-delayed manner and of the difference of the measured mass per unit length of the output and of a selectable theoretical value for the mass per unit of length.

  • Patent number: 4817248
Abstract: A drawing frame has a housing having an upper part and a lower part telescoping therewith, attachments for securing the parts together at any of a plurality of different vertically offset positions, a turntable in the lower part for supporting a sliver can and for rotating it about an upright axis, and an intake device in the upper part for pulling in and drawing slivers and for depositing the drawn slivers in the can. One of the parts is at least partially within the other part and the one part is formed with a plurality of vertically offset holes. The attachments are bolts engagable through the other part with the holes of the one part. These attachment bolts can simply snap in place, or can actually be screwed into threaded holes in the inner part.

  • Patent number: 4817371
Abstract: To decrease the time required for spindles of a spinning machine to reach their normal operating speeds after a yarn breakage or the like, where the spindles are individually driven by respective asynchronous motors individual to the spindles, the alternating current source whose frequency defines the speed of the motor is temporarily brought to a voltage above the normal operating voltage and the voltage step-up is then terminated.

  • Patent number: 4817381
Abstract: A process and apparatus for registering dead workstations of a spinning or twisting machine in a memory is described. For each workstation whether or not it is registered as dead or not is tested. Then, each time a yarn starting carriage arrives at it, whether or not a yarn break is present at it is also tested. In case the workstation involved is registered as dead that registration as "dead" is then erased when no yarn break is present at that workstation.

  • Patent number: 4812993
Abstract: A method and means for controlling the drafting of sliver in a draw frame using sensing means with the aid of which variations in mass of the sliver can be sensed and a resulting signal applied to drafting means located after the sensing means in the direction of travel of the sliver and which changes the draft to compensate for sensed variations in the sliver mass. The sensing means and the drafting means are connected to controlling means which include a storage device. A sensed variation in sliver mass is temporarily stored by the storage device for the duration of a delay time which takes into consideration the traveling time of the sliver form the sensing means to the drafting means. The delay time is shortened by a correction time as a function of the magnitude and/or rate of the sensed variation in sliver mass. This has the effect that variations in mass of the sliver can be compensated almost completely by the drafting device.

  • Patent number: 4805352
Abstract: An apparatus for automatic exchange of at least one full bobbin with at least one empty bobbin in a flyer, i.e. a flyer doffer, comprises a transport device reaching the flyer acting to transport the full bobbins and the empty bobbins, a doffing region and a mounting region which reach the spindles of the flyer for groupwise exchange of the full bobbins with the empty bobbins on the spindles and a lifting region reaching the transport device for groupwise exchange of the full with empty roving bobbins on the transport device. The doffing region and the mounting region on one hand and the lifting region on the other hand are spatially separate from each other. An exchanging region extending to the doffing, mounting and lifting regions is provided. Advantageously the doffing region and the mounting region are combined in a single doffing and mounting region.

  • Patent number: 4788818
Abstract: The process and apparatus of our invention reduces the breakdown quota of stopping devices in a spinning or twisting machine which stop the roving, e.g. when a roving break occurs. A simulated signal for "Yarn Running" is conductable to a stopping device for test purposes and/or the yarn break sensing device can be disconnected from the stopping device and from time to time a connecting signal is produced which reconnects the yarn break device to the associated stop device.

  • Patent number: 4781015
Abstract: The invention relates to a tangential belt drive for a plurality of similar work units of a machine for the production of twisted or twined yarn. These units are subdivided into sections each having at least approximately the same number of work units and each driven through a tangential belt by an electric motor. Thereby, the number of work units in each section is established taking into account the required power and permissible belt stretch, so that the tangential belts have a considerably reduced width and thickness, compared to the ones commonly used. Further, the guide rollers of the tangential belts of neighboring sections are corotationally connected to each other. In order to improve synchronization and power transmission between sections, the contact angle is increased at the guide rollers and the drive pulleys. This may be done through the corresponding spatial arrangement of the drive pulleys with respect to the guide rollers or through use of an intermediate belt arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4773208
Abstract: A process for operation of an approximately horizontal suction duct used for removal of broken fragments of thread or roving from a spinning machine and a suction apparatus for performing that process. In the process of my invention the suction capacity of the suction duct is made adjustable for joint adjustment of the suction at all of the suction intakes connected to it. Thus to reduce energy consumption this suction capacity can be set to a considerably lower value during normal operation than during doffing or batch changing where it is desirable to use the maximum rated suction capacity. The adjusting means for changing the suction capacity of the suction duct comprises advantageously a throttling means such as an automatically controllable plate mounted downstream from the suction intakes of the suction duct or a selector switch for providing different voltages to the winding terminals of an electric motor of an air blower mechanism to directly change the suction capacity.

  • Patent number: 4766718
Abstract: A positioning mechanism for a traveling automatic maintenance unit for a textile ring spinning machine or the like, which unit includes a carriage movable on spaced tracks along the spinning stations of the machine for automatically stopping at spinning stations that are determined to require maintenance. The mechanism includes a frame that is transversely pivotally mounted on the carriage on a longitudinally extending shaft. The frame carries an automatically operable maintenance mechanism that pivots with the frame transversely into operating position at a spinning station. Transverse movement of the frame is accomplished by a pneumatic piston-cylinder mechanism that manipulates a sliding element on a transversely extending rod of a slide guide with the frame connected to the sliding element by a connecting linkage.

  • Patent number: 4749920
Abstract: A plurality of spindles of a textile machine are all mechanically interconnected and individually grouped, the individual groups of the spindles are driven by respective polyphase electric motors having respective feed lines all connected in parallel to the output lines of a polyphase electric power supply. Either the current or the voltage of the supply is maintained generally constant independent of load and a characteristic of the electricity in the feed lines of only one of the motors is monitored in the constant-current system or in the output lines of the supply in the constant-voltage system. An alarm, for example an optical or acoustic signal or just an indication on a display or printout, is generated when the characteristic of the electricity in any one of the monitored lines varies substantially from that of the other monitored lines.
