Patents Assigned to Zinus, Inc.
  • Publication number: 20120017370
Abstract: A folding mattress support system replaces both a conventional box spring and the bed frame with rails. The mattress support system is lighter, quieter and easier to transport, and also provides more storage space beneath the mattress. The mattress support system includes bed frame assemblies, central connecting bars, edge attachments and a bed skirt. Leg brackets fold out from the bed frame assemblies, which themselves unfold in the middle. Central connecting bars connect inner side edges of the bed frame assemblies. Plastic edge attachments are attached at outer corners of the bed frame assemblies and hold a bed skirt taught around the frame assemblies when the frame assemblies are standing on the extended leg brackets. A mattress is then placed on top of the assembled mattress support system. Optionally, metal edge attachments at the head corners of the mattress support system both hold the bed skirt and support a headboard.

  • Patent number: 8006330
Abstract: A collapsible bed frame that supports a box spring includes side rails and telescoping cross rails. A first hinge connects upper and lower portions of a first side rail that are each at least 35 inches long. A first portion of a cross rail telescopes inside a second portion of the cross rail, and the first portion is connected to the first hinge. Upper and lower portions of a second side rail are connected by a second hinge that includes a slot. The second portion of the cross rail has a tongue that fits into the slot on the second hinge. The side rails also have support legs with flanges that extend above the side rails when the support legs are extended. The first and second hinges also include flanges that together with the support leg flanges prevent the box spring from sliding towards either side of the bed frame.

  • Patent number: 8006329
Abstract: A mattress-supporting base includes three mattress support portions, multiple crossbars and a baseboard. Each of the mattress support portions has a first end and a second end. The first end of each mattress support portion connects to the first ends of the other two mattress support portions, and the second end of each mattress support portion connects to the second ends of the other two mattress support portions. The first two mattress support portions have four sections that are pivotally connected by three hinges. The third and center mattress support portion has two sections that are pivotally connected. The components of the mattress-supporting base fit into a packing box having an inner width that is neither wider than about ten times the width of the mattress support portions plus about eight times the thickness of the baseboard, nor longer than about one half the length of the assembled mattress-supporting base.

  • Patent number: 7624465
Abstract: A method of making foam imparts antimicrobial and antiodorant qualities to the foam. Green tea powder is added to the polyol raw materials for making memory foam. The green tea memory foam is used to make pillows, cushions and mattresses. Green tea foam in the top layer of a mattress acts as an antiodorant such that less of the chemical smell of the memory foam is perceived by the user. In addition, the bacteria and mold that would otherwise develop in the moist warmer sleeping environment on memory foam are killed by the green tea additive to the foam. Measurable antimicrobial and antiodorant qualities in the green tea foam are achievable by adding green tea powder constituting less than 2% of the weight of the resulting green tea foam.

  • Patent number: 7600278
Abstract: A folding bed frame includes standardized right and left bed frame assemblies that are connectable by central connecting bars to form an adjustable bedboard frame that fits mattresses of differing widths. The bed frame is easy to transport when disassembled into the separate frame assemblies that are each less than half the width of a conventional frame for a double bed. The smaller and standardized frame assemblies reduce manufacturing cost. Foot brackets are pivotally connected to the bottom of the bedboard frame under each bed frame assembly and support the bedboard frame and mattress. Each central connecting bar has U-shaped slots on its ends that clip over the inner side edges of the right and left bed frame assemblies. Each frame assembly has a hinge at its middle axis at which a lower half folds over onto an upper half to allow the assemblies to fit in a packing box.
