Abstract: A heat sink is disclosed in which a set of fins dissipates heat, where the heat is conducted from a heat source to two sides of the set of fins by a vapor chamber assembly. In an embodiment, a thin vapor chamber assembly is configured to conduct heat to both the bottom and the top of a set of fins. In an embodiment, a thin vapor chamber assembly is configured to conduct heat to a lower set of fins and also to an upper set of fins.

Abstract: A rack test room is disclosed that provides a controlled and monitored environment for one or more server racks, the room controlling and monitoring the cold aisle temperature, the cold aisle air inlet flow rate, and the hot aisle temperature. A rack test room is disclosed that monitors the inlet and exhaust air temperatures for each server in a rack. A rack test room is disclosed that individually controls and monitors the inlet air flow rate to each of a plurality of server racks. A method is disclosed for using a rack test room to simulate a data center environment.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling cooling of computer components of a computing device are provided. A measurement of power consumption of at least one of the computer components is received. An amount of heat expected to be generated by the at least one computer components is determined based on the received measurement of power consumption. An output of a cooling system of the computer components is controlled based on the determined amount of heat expected to be generated.

Abstract: A rack door is disclosed for mounting one or more power distribution units (PDUs) to the front of a server rack. An embodiment allows access to power cables when the rack door is open or closed. An embodiment provides power cable routing that allows power cables from one PDU to be connected or disconnected independently from other cables on that same PDU or on another PDU mounted to the rack door.

Abstract: An HDD mounting apparatus for installing HDDs into a server device is disclosed. The mounting apparatus includes frame dimensioned to receive an HDD and fit within a drive bay with a connector positioned inside for connecting to the HDD. A top cover is secured to one of the long sides of the frame and provides a slot within which a sliding mechanism travels linearly. The sliding mechanism has an engagement mechanism to engage with an edge of the drive bay. A lever is rotatably connected to the top cover by a first hinge. A connector arm is further connected to the lever at one end, and to the sliding mechanism at a second end. When the lever is rotated in one direction, the connector arm generates a force on the sliding mechanism in the first direction that is transferred to a force on the frame in a second opposite direction.

Abstract: A carrier is disclosed for securing a computer drive within a chassis. The carrier provides improved access to the computer drive and drive connector using a lever and lifting pins. The lever and pins cooperate to lift the computer drive and the lifted access allows such carriers to be positioned with minimal separation, increasing the potential density of computer drives within the chassis. The lifted access also assists with computer drive maintenance.
