Abstract: A device suitable for mounting in a ceiling aperture in a ceiling is provided. The device comprises a body having a front end and defining a longitudinal axis perpendicular to the front end. The device further comprises a flange that extends laterally beyond the body at the front end. The device further comprises one or more elastic members mounted on the body, each elastic member being configurable in a restrained position and an engaging position. The device further comprises a respective guide on the body associated with each elastic member, each guide being configured to receive a restraining member that urges the respective elastic member into the restrained position when the restraining member is inserted into the guide, and wherein the respective elastic member is released into the engaging position when the restraining member is removed from the guide, wherein each elastic member extends laterally beyond the body in the engaging position.

Abstract: An antenna is provided. The antenna comprises a dielectric lamina having a first face and a second face opposite the first face. The antenna further comprises a groundplane on the first face of the dielectric lamina, wherein the groundplane is a planar conductive groundplane comprising first and second L-shaped apertures. The antenna further comprises a microstrip transmission line on the second face of the dielectric lamina.

Abstract: A combined lighting and speaker device having a central longitudinal axis defining a forward and a rearward direction and a radially outward and a radially inward direction is provided. The device comprises a tweeter; a tweeter horn positioned radially outwardly of the tweeter; a speaker positioned rearward of the tweeter horn; and a light emitting diode, LED, assembly positioned radially outwardly of the tweeter. The LED assembly comprises one or more light emitting diodes, LEDs, and a lens having a forward surface. The tweeter horn has an inner edge in communication with an outer edge of the tweeter, so that the tweeter horn forms a guide to direct sound produced by the tweeter away from the speaker when in use. At least part of the tweeter horn is provided by the forward surface of the lens.

Abstract: A combined light and loudspeaker driver device comprising a housing supporting a loudspeaker driver, a heat removal element, electronic components and a light source. The heat removal element includes a column extending along a central longitudinal axis to a base of the housing, to meet a heat sink formed around the central longitudinal axis to the rear of the housing. The light source provides task lighting and is a heat source. It is mounted on a front end of the column distal from the heat sink at the base of the housing, to optimize conduction of heat away from the light source. The housing is generally cup shaped and has side walls. The interior of the side walls is parallel with the central longitudinal axis of the housing over the majority of the rearward depth thereof resulting in a large void behind the loudspeaker diaphragm, leading to improved sound.

Abstract: A method of controlling a lighting and sound system comprising a controller and a plurality of lighting and sound devices 10 is provided. Each lighting and sound device 10 includes a light, a loudspeaker and a microphone 380. The method comprises receiving an audio instruction from a first user of the system at the microphone of a first device of the plurality of devices. The method further comprises processing the received audio instruction. The method further comprises transmitting the instruction from the first device to the controller. The method further comprises executing an action based upon the processed audio instruction.
