  • Patent number: 5250799
Abstract: A method and circuit arrangement for adapting the light intensity of the summation light (E.sub.i) of a room lit by internal light (E.sub.k) and external light (E'.sub.i) to the external light (E.sub.a), which varies with the time of day, in which the light intensity of the internal light is controlled in dependence on one or more control parameters according to a given function and the function can be varied according to individual preference, are to be arranged so as to provide means of making finer adjustments to the light intensity in a room. This is achieved by determining the function by a plurality of independently settable function values (11), each function value (11) being variable independently of other function values (11).

  • Patent number: 4998339
Abstract: A method for the fabrication of an iron member with a winding for generation of electromagnetic fields. The iron member has essentially a square-shaped iron core (6) and at least one U-shaped iron yoke (7) receiving a segment of the winding; the iron core is inserted between the legs of said U-shaped iron yoke. The iron core (6) is introduced into the winding having to begin with undeformed wires and subsequently the U-shaped iron yoke (7) is slid on. Herein core (6) and yoke (7) are moved so far against each other, that the cross-sectional area of the groove bounded by the core (6) and the yoke (7) or of the winding space becomes smaller than the cross-sectional area of the segment of the winding which it to begin with not deformed and received by the winding space of the iron member formed by the core (6) and the yoke (7).

  • Patent number: 4725762
Abstract: A circuit supplied with direct voltage serves for generation of voltages and/or currents of differing curve shape and differing frequency and/or differing polarity. A load L with ohmic, inductive, capacitive or complex resistance behavior is switched in series with a choke D. Furthermore, at least two controlled semiconductor switches T.sub.1 and T.sub.2 are provided, which are each, respectively in series, as far as the load L and the choke D are connected, but which, however, lie in current paths 1 and 2 which are connected at different potentials of the supply voltage. In operational use, the one switch T.sub.2 is held open while the other switch T.sub.1 is opened and closed in alternating sequence, and after termination of an adjustable and controllable time period, the switch T.sub.1, which has been hitherto operated in alternating sequence, is now kept open, while the switch T.sub.

  • Patent number: 4680684
Abstract: A bed reading lamp, particularly for hospital rooms, includes a lamp housing attachable to a wall of a room, the lamp housing including at least one cover which closes a light outlet opening provided in the lower area of the housing and which is translucent and serves to guide the light. The cover includes a lower first portion having an inclined part and a horizontal part and a second portion connected to the first portion. The inclined part and the second portion have prismatic profiles on their sides facing the lamp. The height of the prismatic profiles of the inclined part of the first portion decreases toward the horizontal part of the first portion. The cover provides a light distribution which ensures that neither the person lying in the bed provided with the lamp nor a person in a bed on an opposite wall will be blinded by the light of the lamp.

  • Patent number: 4143302
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp fires more quickly at low temperature and its service life is lengthened if the input terminals of a full-wave rectifier are connected to the lamp electrodes and a resistor and capacitor are connected in parallel circuit between the output terminals of the rectifier. The voltage pulses applied to the electrodes prior to firing are reduced in peak amplitude and broadened by the improved circuit.
