Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for the dynamic aggregation of communications network bandwidth. Communication devices are bonded in a community in which the communication resources of a bonded device can be used to transfer data on behalf of another bonded device. In an exemplary embodiment, communication devices are bonded wirelessly to share wireless wide area network communication channels. Bandwidth aggregation is performed dynamically based on user communication requirements and the current states of the bonded communication devices. Methods are presented by which communication devices can be automatically bonded when a predetermined bonding condition is satisfied. The methods and systems of the invention optimize utilization of communication resources in a cost-effective manner that provides a user high quality service as well as location mobility.

Abstract: Personalized notifications of security events are sent. When an alarm condition is determined, a remote notification address may be retrieved. Personalized text may also be retrieved that describes the alarm condition. A notification message may thus be sent to the remote notification address, with the personalized text describing the alarm condition in a user's own words. The personalized text may then be converted to speech, thus providing an audible announcement of the alarm condition.

Abstract: A system for providing an acoustic environment recognizer for optimal speech processing is disclosed. In particular, the system may utilize metadata obtained from various acoustic environments to assist in suppressing ambient noise interfering with a desired audio signal. In order to do so, the system may receive an audio stream including an audio signal associated with a user and including ambient noise obtained from an acoustic environment of the user. The system may obtain first metadata associated with the ambient noise, and may determine if the first metadata corresponds to second metadata in a profile for the acoustic environment. If the first metadata corresponds to the second metadata, the system may select a processing scheme for suppressing the ambient noise from the audio stream, and process the audio stream using the processing scheme. Once the audio stream is processed, the system may provide the audio stream to a destination.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products provide personalized feedback in a cloud-based environment. A client device routes image data to a server for analysis. The server analyzes the image data to recognize people of interest. Because the server performs image recognition, the client device is relieved of these intensive operations.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for receiving a controllability indicator at a portable communication device, the controllability indicator received from a stationary communication device. The controllability indicator indicates whether a trickplay feature is available for controlling a presentation of multimedia content, and is determined from a characterization of the multimedia content. The method further includes presenting a trickplay indicator at the portable communication device according to the controllability indicator to indicate whether the trickplay feature is available. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for a realtime dynamic virtual network topology discovery engine to discover a dynamic network topology in virtualized networks in realtime. A processor that executes a network topology discovery engine can obtain network data that can describe elements of a data center and operational state of the elements. Obtaining network data can include obtaining network data from a network topology inventory database and through detecting operational state change events from virtual network components. The processor can construct a network topology model based upon the network data. The network topology model can include an object (representing an element of the data center) and an attribute representing a state of the element. The processor can update the network topology model in realtime. The network topology model and configurations can be stored for root cause analysis of fault events, resource orchestration in SDN networks, and other applications.

Abstract: A system for diffusing denial-of-service attacks by using virtual machines is disclosed. In particular, the system may receive, from a measurement probe, a network transaction measurement associated with a first node in a network. Based on the network transaction measurement, the system may determine if the network transaction measurement satisfies a threshold measurement value. If the network transaction measurement satisfies the threshold measurement value, the system may determine that an attack is occurring at the first node in the network. The system may then identify one or more nodes that have capacity for handling traffic intended for the first node. Once the one or more nodes are identified, the system may launch virtual machines at the one or more nodes to handle legitimate traffic intended for the first node.

Abstract: A disclosed method of serving web page requests includes detecting a client request for a web page that contains an object. A preloader application is invoked to execute while the object is downloading to the client. The preloader application displays a preloader message during at least part of the downloading interval. At least a part of the preloader message is an advertisement or is otherwise unrelated to a progress of the downloading of the object. A size of the object may exceed a specified threshold and/or a type of the object may match any of a set of predetermined object types. The set of predetermined object types may include a Java® object type, a Flash® object type, or another object type suitable for implementing motion graphics. In some embodiments, the preloader application resides on a third party web site.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer readable medium generate a webpage using keywords identified from user input and user email communications. The keywords are identified, ranked, and transmitted to a server where a search engine uses one or more of the keywords to identify items of interest such as articles or videos. A web page is generated using selected items of interest or links to the items of interest which may then be displayed to a user as the user's homepage.

Abstract: Virtualization of a physical telephone number mapping service is provided. An amount of memory needed for handling requests from users of a physical telephone number mapping service provided by a communication network is determined. A listing of different virtual machine flavors available for instantiation is searched. Each virtual machine flavor has a different respective memory capacity. A determination is made whether there is a virtual machine flavor available for instantiation that has a memory capacity adequate to handle the requests. Responsive to determining that there is a virtual machine flavor available for instantiation that has the memory capacity adequate to handle the requests, instantiation of the virtual machine flavor is initiated for handling the requests.

Abstract: Enhanced biometric authentication combines a user's inherent biometric data with the user's password, code, or other secret glyph. For example, the user's finger makes an input on a touchpad. An image of a fingerprint is extracted from the input, along with the user's password, code, or other secret glyph. In one input, then, the user's finger serves two authentication schemes for increased security.
