  • Patent number: 11804639
Abstract: Presented are metalworking systems for forming metallic workpieces, methods for making/operating such metalworking systems, and battery module cell tabs bent by a multistage cluster-and-bend press. A metalworking system includes a grouping tool and a contouring tool that both align adjacent a workpiece support structure, such as a base plate of a battery module housing buttressing a stack of battery pouch cells. The grouping tool, which may include a first reciprocating plunger or plunger head, presses together a stack of metallic workpieces to thereby form a workpiece set having a first bend profile and a first length. The contouring tool, which may include a second reciprocating plunger or a pair of plunger fingers mounted on the plunger head, is attached to the grouping tool and bends the workpiece set to a second bend profile, distinct from the first bend profile, and a second set length, shorter than the first set length.

  • Patent number: 11796666
Abstract: A radar system includes antenna elements and receive channels. An adaptive switch couples the receive channels to a subset of the antenna elements as selected antenna elements. The selected antenna elements receive reflected signals from reflection by objects and each of the receive channels outputs the digital signal based on the reflected signal from the coupled selected antenna element. A controller processes the digital signal from each receive channel to estimate a direction of arrival (DOA) to each object and generate candidate configurations of the switch. Assessing the candidate configurations includes performing a multi-step assessment using a decision tree with each candidate configuration as a root and examining accuracy of an output at a last step in the decision tree to select a selected candidate configuration based on the accuracy. The switch is configured according to the selected candidate configuration prior to receiving the reflected signals for a next iteration.

  • Patent number: 11794758
Abstract: A first network device includes a transceiver, a memory and a control module. The transceiver receives an integrated model from a second network device that is separate from the first network device. The memory stores the integrated model and diagnostic trouble code data, most probable cause data, and least probable cause data, which have corresponding cause of issue indications for an issue of a vehicle. The control module while executing the integrated model: compares the cause of issue indications to determine whether the cause of issue indications are consistent such that a same cause of issue is indicated; in response to the cause of issue indications being consistent, displays the same cause of issue, and in response to the cause of issue indications being inconsistent and based on a set of conditions, displays a portion of health related information while refraining from displaying another portion of the health related information.

  • Patent number: 11787414
Abstract: A vehicle and a system and method of controlling the vehicle. The system includes a sensor and a processor. The sensor obtains a first estimate of a force on a tire of the vehicle based on dynamics of the vehicle. The processor is configured to obtain a second estimate of the force on the tire using a tire model, determine an estimate of a coefficient of friction between the tire and the road from the first estimate of the force and the second estimate of the force, and control the vehicle using the estimate of the coefficient of friction.

  • Patent number: 11787394
Abstract: A system for supervisory control for eAWD and eLSD in a motor vehicle includes a control module, and sensors and actuators disposed on the motor vehicle. The sensors measure real-time motor vehicle data, and the actuators alter behavior of the motor vehicle. The control module receives the real-time data; receives one or more driver inputs to the motor vehicle; determines a status of a body of the motor vehicle; determines a status of axles of the motor vehicle; determines a status of each wheel of the motor vehicle; and generates a control signal to the actuators from the driver inputs and the body, axle, and wheel statuses. The control module also exercises supervisory control by actively adjusting constraints on the control signal to each of the actuators where actively adjusting constraints on the control signal alters boundaries of control actions in response to the one or more driver inputs.

  • Patent number: 11788455
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for recirculation of an engine exhaust gas. The system includes an engine, an exhaust system configured to channel exhaust gas from the engine to an outlet, an aftertreatment device, an exhaust recirculation system configured to divert at least some of the exhaust gas as recirculated exhaust gas from a first position in the exhaust system downstream of the aftertreatment device, through a buffer tank, and to a second position in the exhaust system upstream of the aftertreatment device, wherein the recirculated exhaust gas is combined with the exhaust gas at the second position, a controller configured to, by a processor, selectively operate the exhaust recirculation system to control the exhaust recirculation system to divert the exhaust gas and thereby cause the recirculated exhaust gas to be treated with the aftertreatment device more than once with sequentially increased catalyst temperatures.

  • Patent number: 11791641
Abstract: A protection system for a high-voltage component includes a switching circuit and a protection controller. The switching circuit changes a variable arrangement of multiple battery packs between a parallel arrangement and a series arrangement. The protection controller commands the switching circuit into the series arrangement in response to a recharging session, commands a current flow in the recharging session, measures a measured voltage between an input node and a floating chassis ground of the high-voltage component, advances a timer while the measured voltage indicates a presence of an improper voltage, and cancels the recharging session in response to the presence of the improper voltage for greater than an exposure time. The recharging session provides a direct-current fast-charging voltage to battery packs in the series arrangement, and is greater than the battery voltage.
