  • Patent number: 7337772
Abstract: The temperature of an exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage 3 is estimated or detected, and the temperature of an active element of an exhaust gas sensor 8. (O2 sensor) is controlled at a predetermined target temperature by a heater using the estimated or detected temperature of the exhaust gas. For estimating the temperature of the exhaust gas in the vicinity of the exhaust gas sensor 8, the exhaust passage 3 extending up to the exhaust gas sensor 8 is divided into a plurality of partial exhaust passageways 3a through 3d, the temperatures of the exhaust gas in the partial exhaust passageways 3a through 3d are estimated successively from an exhaust port 2 of an engine 1. The temperature of the exhaust gas is estimated according to an algorithm which takes into account a heat transfer between the exhaust gas and passage-defining members 6a, 6b, 7 which define the exhaust passage 3 and a heat radiation from the passage-defining members into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 7340065
Abstract: An active noise control system is provided which cancels a noise using a sound radiated from a speaker driven by an output from an adaptive notch filter. The system employs output signals from an adder or simulation cosine-wave and sine-wave signals, an error signal or an output signal from a microphone, and a compensated signal from the adder or a signal available for acoustically transferring an output from the adaptive notch filter to the microphone in accordance with initial transfer characteristics to update the filter coefficient of the adaptive notch filter. This configuration allows the system to operate with stability even when the acoustic transfer characteristics vary with time or under circumstances where there exists a significant amount of incoming external noises. The system also prevents overcompensation for a noise at the ears of a passenger in a vehicle, thereby proving an ideal noise reduction effect.

  • Patent number: 7337040
Abstract: Based on a detected or estimated value of an actual posture of a predetermined part, such as a body 3, of a robot 1 and a deviation the actual posture from a posture of a desired gait, a posture rotational deviation's variation is determined as the temporal variation of the deviation, and the position of the robot 1 (for example, the position where the robot comes into contact with a floor) is estimated on the assumption that the robot 1 rotates about a rotation center by the rotational deviation's variation. In addition, in accordance with the difference between the estimated position and the estimated position of the robot 1 determined by an inertial navigation method using an accelerometer or the like, the estimated position of the robot 1 determined by the inertial navigation method is corrected, thereby improving the precision of the estimated position.

  • Patent number: 7333111
Abstract: A general joint component framework that is capable of exhibiting complex behaviors of joints in articulated figures is provided. A network of joint components is used to model the kinematics of a joint. A joint builder can specify parameters for each of the joint components and join the joint components to form a joint set function that captures the biomechanical dependencies between the components. The joint function has fewer inputs than the total number of possible articulations yielding both simple control and biomechanically accurate joint movement.

Abstract: The viscosity of a puncture-preventing sealant (7) is set in a range of 25 to 35 dPa·s, and a thixotropy index is set in a range of 6.5 to 11.0, the sealant (7) being filled in a sealant chamber (6) defined to extend along an outer periphery of an air chamber (5) in a tire (T). When the tire (T) is being rotated by traveling of a vehicle, the viscosity of the sealant (7) is reduced by a stirring action provided by a vibration or a centrifugal force of the sealant (7), whereby the sealant (7) can be diffused uniformly in the sealant chamber (6). When the vehicle has been stopped and the stirring action has been extinguished, the viscosity of the sealant (7) is increased, whereby the sealant (7) is maintained in a state in which it has been diffused uniformly in the sealant chamber (6) without flowing downwards in the sealant chamber (6) by gravitation. Therefore, even when the vehicle is travelling at a high speed, the generation of a vibration and a noise can be prevented.

Abstract: A parts list system includes a CAD section and a parts list section. The CAD section generates a CAD figure of a part included in an apparatus based on design reference data, and extracts a part number of the part, configuration part numbers of configuration parts of the part and attribute data from the CAD figure. Here, the design reference data is reference for design. The attribute data indicate properties of the part and the configuration parts. The parts list section generates the parts list based on the part number, the configuration part numbers and the attribute data from the CAD figure and the design reference data. Here, the parts list relates the part number, the configuration part numbers and part data. The part data indicate properties of the part and the configuration part. Then, the CAD section modifies the CAD figure based on a modification command showing a modified design, and extracts the part number, the configuration part numbers and the attribute data from the modified CAD figure.

Abstract: An object detection apparatus and method capable of detecting objects based on visual images captured by a self-moving unit. A sequential images output section makes a train of a first input image and a second input image sequential to the first input image and outputs said train. A local area image processor calculates local flows based on said first input image and said second input image. An inertia information acquiring section measures self-motion of the unit to calculate inertia information thereof. A global area image processor uses said inertia information to estimate global flow, which is a motion field of the entire view associated to the self-motion, using said global flow and said first input image and creates a predictive image of said second input image. The global area image processor then calculates differential image data, which is a difference between said predictive image and said second input image.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine variable compression ratio system includes a piston inner, a piston outer that, while being fitted around the outer periphery of the piston inner, so it slides only in the axial direction, is capable of moving among low (L), high (H), and medium (M) compression ratio positions, and two sets of raising means disposed in line in the axial direction between the piston inner and outer. Each set of raising means includes a movable raising member, which can pivot individually between a non-raised position (A) and a raised position (B) around the axis of the piston inner and outer. It is thus possible to provide an internal combustion engine variable compression ratio system that enables the compression ratio to be appropriately switched between at least three stages, that is, between low, medium and high compression ratios, without rotating the piston outer.

Because the gas diffusion layers are formed layer by layer, components can be formed in highly fine patterns so that a highly compact tubular fuel cell can be achieved. Similarly, the dimensions of the various elements of the fuel cell can be controlled in a highly accurate manner. Also, the geometric arrangement can be changed at will in intermediate parts of each gas passage.
