Abstract: A patient support apparatus including a base frame arranged for movement about a floor surface. The base frame defines a foot end and a head end, and includes first and second longitudinal rails extending between the foot end and the head end with a plurality of lateral receivers formed in each of the first and second longitudinal rails. A patient support deck provides support to a patient, and includes a fowler deck section and a base deck section. The fowler deck section is coupled to the base frame for pivoting movement relative to the first and second longitudinal rails. The base deck section is attached to the first and second longitudinal rails, and includes a plurality of lateral braces having notched ends shaped to be inserted into a respective one the plurality of lateral receivers formed in the first and second longitudinal rails to assemble the patient support apparatus.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus for removably retaining differently-sized portable electronic devices. The patient support apparatus comprises a base, a litter with a patient support deck for supporting the patient, and a side rail. The side rail is coupled to the litter and arranged for movement relative to the base. The side rail includes a caddy comprising a back, a first brace, and a second brace spaced from the first brace. The first brace extends laterally from the back and defines a first bottom support region. The second brace extends laterally from the back and defines a second bottom support region converging toward the first bottom support region to arrange the first and second bottom support regions to provide differing points of contact for retaining differently-sized portable electronic devices.

Abstract: A mobility aid including a body assembly, a handle assembly, and electrical assembly. Said body assembly includes a base portion having wheels with locking mechanisms, a telescopic central portion, and a top portion having telescopic portions. The telescopic portions are capable of being extended a predetermined length. The handle assembly includes handles mounted on the top portion. The handles are removable by means of straps attached at the base of each handle. Said straps can be locked when extended. A controller from the electrical assembly performs preconfigured actions such as extend or contract the telescopic members, drive the wheels in a desired direction. The handles are configured to secure a patient in a supine position to the pulled the patient by means of the straps and the wheels to place the patient in a lateral position and permit a caretaker to perform personal care on the patient.

Abstract: The invention relates to a folding bed, belonging to the field of furniture, comprising a mattress, a pillow and a bed frame. Seven X-shaped support frames are adopted to constitute a main structure of the bed frame, and an upper edge of the X-shaped support frame is provided with foldable support rods and connecting pieces. The whole structure may be folded longitudinally and transversely to form a columnar body after folding, which can sufficiently reduce the gap between the support rods, so as to minimize the volume, and it is convenient to carry and store after use. The pillow is filled with memory cotton to fit the human body and is comfortable for sleeping.

Abstract: An improved crib is disclosed herein. The crib of the present disclosure has numerous benefits over the prior art, wherein one of the benefits is that children placed within the crib may not feel like they are trapped within a cage. In general, the crib disclosed has screens on all four sides of the crib. The screens at least comprise visual display surfaces on the faces of the screens directed toward the inside of the crib, wherein the mattress and child are located. The visual display surfaces may be operable to display calming scenery or educational content for the child in the crib. Many more embodiments are disclosed herein that are within the scope of this inventive concept.

Abstract: A litter for carrying an injured person and method of making the same is provided. The litter comprises a pair of frame rails defining a middle space therebetween. A carrying structure is supported by the pair of frame rails in the middle space and defines a top surface and a bottom surface. The carrying structure is configured to support an injured person on the top surface. The litter further comprises at least one spreader bar disposed between the pair of frame rails. At least one foot defining a top and a bottom may be attached to a bottom side of either the at least one spreader bar or at least one of the pair of frame rails. The at least one foot defines a curved surface leading downwardly from the top to the bottom vertically away from the top surface of the carrying structure and horizontally towards the middle space.

Abstract: A bed frame system for use particularly in hotels that includes side rails and cross rails that include extruded plastic panels that extend downwardly to the floor to block the space underneath the bed frame. The cross rails are connected to the side rails by corner members with a system that allows the entire bed frame to be assembled without the use of tools. In one embodiment, the bed frame is a platform style bed frame that is constructed of an upper bed frame section and a lower bed frame section that are interlocked together to raise the height of the bed frame and eliminate the foundation. The bed frame may have a deck made up of a plurality of individual slats that are supported by the side rails to support the mattress.

Abstract: A convertible vehicle door emergency removal device comprising a pair of door members, a stretcher frame member and a pad member. The door members each include a first door member and a second door member and each door member is removably attached to a corresponding vehicle door frame for opening and closing. Each door member includes a pair of mating hinges for attachment to one another and a pair of strap handles for transporting a stretcher frame member. The stretcher frame member is formed by attaching the pair of door members to one another after each door member is removed from a corresponding door frame. The pair of door members are attached to one another by connecting the mating hinges to one another. The stretcher frame member is configured to receive an occupant for transporting. The pad member overlays a top surface of the stretcher frame member. Moreover, the pad member is inflatable and includes an inflatable cushion for providing cushion support to an injured region of the occupant.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a structure is detachably attached to a bed apparatus. The bed apparatus includes a holder and a first frame that includes a portion extending in a first direction. The structure includes: a first portion of a columnar shape extending in a second direction that intersects the first direction; and a second portion continuous to the first portion and including a portion extending in a third direction that intersects the second direction. The first portion is inserted in the holder so that the holder holds the structure. When the structure is attached to the bed apparatus, an angle between the first direction and the third direction is variable. The structure that can facilitate aid of bed departure can be provided.

Abstract: A gurney transfer assist device for a helicopter has a fixed height frame supporting a slidably movable bed deck frame. The fixed height frame is releasably secured to a known wheeled gurney. The fixed height dimension raises a carried stretcher to a vertical height to allow transfer to and/or from a medical helicopter loading surface. The slidably movable bed deck frame is extendable outwardly from one end of the fixed height frame and the extending end is angulated to facilitate transfer of the stretcher and supported patient to/from the helicopter loading surface.

Abstract: An emergency cot includes a litter frame, a base, and a lift assembly supporting the litter frame relative to the base. The lift assembly includes load bearing members pivotally coupled to the litter frame by head-end upper pivot connections and foot-end upper pivot connections and to the base by head-end lower pivot connections and foot-end lower pivot connections for raising or lowering the base or the litter frame with respect to the other. The foot-end upper pivot connections or head-end upper pivot connections are movable toward or away from the longitudinal axis of the litter frame to allow one end of the litter frame to be tilted upwardly.

Abstract: Devices and methods that allow for rapid and efficient changing of duvet covers, comprising an upper section and a lower section of washable material that are sized to be significantly larger than a duvet that will be covered and isolated. The upper and lower sections are secured together along a single edge only, and that edge is positioned at the head of the bed. The duvet is placed between the upper and lower sections, isolating and enclosing the duvet, thereby preventing the duvet from becoming exposed while the bed is in use, and simultaneously allowing for easy and rapid changing of the duvet cover after use.

Abstract: A portable patient turning device is provided comprising an inflatable mattress cover having a planar surface configured to substantially cover the surface of a bed, and a control unit connected to the inflatable mattress cover by one or more air hoses. The inflatable mattress cover further comprises a first inflatable chamber proximate to and extending along a left edge of the planar surface, a second inflatable chamber proximate to and extending along a right edge of the planar surface, and a spine cushion positioned between the first inflatable chamber and the second inflatable chamber and extending along a middle portion of the planar surface for at least a portion of the length of the first inflatable chamber and second inflatable chamber.

Abstract: The present bed rail includes a rail portion and base portion. The rail portion swings down from an operating position and then slides into the base frame between a mattress and a mattress support to come to rest in the base frame in a stored position. The rail portion includes outer and inner frames. The outer frame is swingably and slideably engaged to the base frame. The inner frame is slideable on straight end portions of the outer frame and engages the base frame to prevent swinging and sliding of the rail portion.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for lateral transfer of patient between two platforms. In particular the invention provides an apparatus for lateral transfer of patient that facilitates gravity assisted transfer of patient with low effort and high protection from injury. The invention comprise a curved board for gravity assisted lateral transfer of patient comprising a top surface and a bottom surface having rectangular holes punched at the ends of the curved board. The curved board comprise of an elevated portion, a middle slanted portion, and a lower portion wherein the elevated portion is substantially raised relatively to the lower portion.

Abstract: A detachable bed handle providing support and mobility assistance for a user on a bed or similar furniture is disclosed. The detachable bed handle may couple with a base portion that can be mounted on a bed frame or bed base, or be positioned between a mattress and a box spring or bed base. The bed may be an adjustable (articulating) bed. The bed handle may have a gripping member that is shaped so as to avoid areas of potential entrapment of a user's body between the bed handle and the bed. Entrapment areas can be avoided both when the bed is in a nonarticulated state and when the bed is in an articulated state.

Abstract: Disclosed is a bedding apparatus. The bedding apparatus comprising: a snuggle bedsheet adapted to fit over a mattress, wherein the snuggle bedsheet comprises: a sheet fabric adapted to cover a top portion of the mattress; an attachment fabric having a top end and a bottom end such that the top end of the attachment fabric is attached to the sheet fabric to enclose the mattress; and a spandex sheet attached at a middle area of the sheet fabric, comprising two longitudinal sides and two lateral sides, wherein the longitudinal sides are stitched to the sheet fabric and are longer than the lateral sides, wherein both lateral sides are configured to be open at all times.
