  • Patent number: 11403619
Abstract: A contactless card useful for adjusting the operation, configuration, and/or performance of a secondary device is described. The contactless card is equipped with a communication interface which allows the contactless card to transmit information to the secondary device using NFC signals. The contactless card stores accommodation information related to a physical accommodation desired by the user and transmits that information in the form of an accommodation message to the secondary device after being placed in a NFC field generated by the secondary device. In some embodiments, the contactless card requests an authentication certificate in order to determine a degree of trust prior to sending an accommodation message. In some embodiments, the contactless card may adjust what accommodation information is included in the accommodation message based on the authentication certificate received from the secondary device.

  • Patent number: 11392885
Abstract: A hierarchical aggregation tracking and monitoring system using “smart” tracking labels on packages and on the items contained in the packages. The labels may have printed information on the top and electronics and sensors embedded in thin, flexible layers underneath. Multiple levels of packaging may be tracked, such as boxes aggregated into pallets, which are in turn aggregated into larger containers. Smart labels on packages may communicate with smart labels on the contained items to retrieve item-level sensor data and forward this data to a central server. By using the package labels as gateways, item labels may be made simpler and less expensive. Package labels may detect when an item label does not respond and may notify a server that an item may be missing. Sensors and communications interfaces on labels may be used to automate generation and confirmation of containment data that indicates which items are in which packages.

  • Patent number: 11392818
Abstract: A user instrument for engaging in a transaction includes a graphically encoded icon having a static portion, and an intrinsic portion comprising an area of stimuli-responsive material defining a first machine-readable indicia. At least a portion of the stimuli-responsive material transforms from a first state to a second state in response to a trigger. The transformation from the first state to the second state of the portion of the stimuli-response material results in a second machine-readable indicia. The transformation of the stimuli-responsive material from the first state to the second state is semi-irreversible. The second machine-readable indicia comprises information to permit or deny the user to engage in a second transaction via the user instrument.
