Once the root system is established in the soil medium, the sod section is placed into the tray, which has a bottom, a series of walls and a ledge with a plurality of interlocking nodes. Two units can connect by engaging interlocking nodes from one unit to interlocking nodes of another unit. Once connected, the overlapping ledges form a seal that prevents liquid from escaping between two units when the pet waste station system is in use.
