  • Patent number: 8682070
Abstract: Restoration of edges in rasterized, continuous tone images includes selection of a pair of neighboring pixels that exchange a restoration value to make a steeper transition from a low value on one side of a boundary between the two pixels to a high value at the other side thereof. Although any pair of neighboring pixels is selected, this operation is only performed when four pixels in a direction perpendicular to the boundary, of which the selected pair form the two center pixels, have a monotonely increasing value. The restoration value is based on a difference value of nearest neighboring pixels on the same side of the boundary. This avoids overshooting around edges in an image. The method is advantageous when resealing an image to a higher resolution which occurs when a low resolution image is embedded in a page that is to be printed with a high addressability printer system.

  • Patent number: 8675959
Abstract: A computer-readable recording medium has stored therein an image processing program for causing a computer to execute a process including identifying, on a taken image of a jig having a plurality of first color regions and a plurality of second color regions different in color from the first color regions, the first color regions, comparing each of the identified first color regions with a predetermined convex shape and retracting each of the first color regions until it is determined that each of the first color regions has a similarity in shape to the predetermined convex shape, and determining a feature point of the jig on the image on the basis of a positional relationship of a plurality of first retracted regions on the image, the first retracted regions being obtained from the first color regions as a result of retraction at the retracting.

  • Patent number: 8644591
Abstract: An alignment method for assembling substrates without fiducial mark is provided and has steps of: pre-defining at least two partially standard character regions; capturing at least two partially actual images of a first substrate; comparing to obtain at least two partially actual character regions; building an actual coordinate system of the first substrate; comparing the actual coordinate system with a coordinate system of a second substrate to obtain three types of offset values; moving the first substrate to a correct waiting position based on the offset values; ensuring if the first substrate is disposed at the correct waiting position; and stacking the first substrate with the second substrate to finish the alignment and installation. Thus, the alignment method of the present invention can be applied to to-be-installed substrates without any fiducial mark for alignment.

  • Patent number: 8625877
Abstract: A method is provided of operating an image-based check processing system to detect a double feed condition of carrier envelopes. An example method includes attempting to read a magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) codeline from a first predefined area of an image of a document item, determining if the document item is a carrier envelope, concluding that the document item is not a double-fed item when a determination is made that the document item is a carrier envelope, and concluding that the document item is potentially a double-fed item when a determination is made that the document item is not a carrier envelope.

  • Patent number: 8611681
Abstract: Disclosed is an image processing apparatus including: an image compression conversion unit that, in an event of quantizing an image having attribute data for each pixel, creates a density pattern in which pixel values of plural pixels composing a region as a quantization target are binarized, quantizes the region based on the density pattern, and binarizes, for each pixel, the attribute data individually owned by the plural pixels composing the region; and an image extension conversion unit that, in an event of decoding the image of the region quantized based on the density pattern by the image compression conversion unit, decides a density pattern of the region before the quantization in response to an attribute pattern that is based on the binarized attribute data of each of the plural pixels composing the region, and decodes the region in response to the decided density pattern.
