  • Patent number: 6957927
Abstract: An aircraft servicing pit is provided that has a pit lid set within a supporting frame and hinged for rotation relative to a pit access opening. However, the pit lid is also completely detachable from the surrounding frame once it opened. The pit lid support has a flat deck surface with an access opening surrounded by a supporting rim located beneath the deck surface. A hinge pocket is defined in the structure of the pit lid support. A pair of hinge axle end slots are formed on the opposite sides of the pit lid support frame and are inclined upwardly and outwardly. The pit lid has a hinge leaf with a pair of hinge axle ends projecting transversely therefrom in opposite directions. The hinge axle ends engage the hinge axle end slots and are entrapped therein when the pit lid is closed.

  • Patent number: 6955495
Abstract: A delimiter that can be arranged along the sides of a runway. The delimiter can be locked in an upright position for most normal operations. When the runway must be cleared of snow, an operator can lower the delimiters in place, either manually or by motor. After the runway has been cleared of snow, the delimiters can be raised again for use. Unlike the delimiters described above, these delimiters meet all aircraft regulation requirements. When collapsed, they do not protrude above the surface of the ground. The delimiters also have a shear mechanism that allows the raised portion of the delimiter to break off when struck. This shear mechanism protects aircraft by breaking away the upper portion of the delimiter.

  • Patent number: 6953302
Abstract: An adjustment riser is disposed between a manhole and a frame embedded in the paved surface of a roadway. The adjustment riser includes an annular concrete base which includes substantially flat top and bottom surfaces. A ridge and a groove are formed on the top and bottom surfaces, respectively, of the base to facilitate in the stacking of multiple risers and to prevent water infiltration. The adjustment riser additionally includes a plurality of adjustable support assemblies for supporting the frame. Each support assembly includes a support which extends axially within a corresponding bore formed in the base. Each support includes an enlarged head shaped to support the frame, the vertical position of the head of the support relative to the top surface of the base being continuously adjustable. In this manner, the adjustable nature of each support enables riser to hold the frame in its proper orientation relative to the paved surface.

  • Patent number: 6951253
Abstract: A grooming apparatus, for sloping, aerating and fluffing bedding material in livestock free stalls, is attached to a vehicle such as a skid steer. The grooming apparatus includes a rotary arm, having grooming members, and connected to the vehicle by a boom. The rotary arm, when viewed across the stalls, is angled at a slope. The grooming members contact the bedding material to fluff and aerate it, and arrange it according to the slope. The rotary arm, when viewed from the end of a stall, may be pitched forward or rearward. These pitches and angles permit the grooming members to more effectively move the bedding material within each stall to create the slope. Such a slope is beneficial for livestock that prefers a sloped bed. Using the boom, the rotary arm can be moved up and/or out of the way when the vehicle is moved through doorways and the like.

  • Patent number: 6926093
Abstract: A mechanism for mounting a soil leveling device to the mounting arm of a leveling attachment operates in either a fixed setting or a floating setting. The mechanism includes a rearwardly extending carrier arm which carries the soil leveling device at its distal end. The carrier arm is pivotably connected at its proximal end to the mounting arm of the leveling attachment for upward and downward movement. A connecting link is mounted to the mounting arm and a spring assembly extends between the link and the carrier arm. The connecting link is selectively operable in either a fixed setting or a released, floating setting. When the connecting link is in the fixed setting, the spring assembly biases the carrier arm and the leveling device with a downward force. When the connecting link is in the floating setting, the leveling device can move across a soil surface free of a downward bias from the spring assembly.

  • Patent number: 6923267
Abstract: A linear aeration apparatus is operable to form parallel linear aeration trenches into the surface of the ground. Aeration of highly compacted turf areas can be accomplished by first spreading a top dressing material over the surface of the field and then forming linear aeration trenches into the surface of the ground mixing the soil removed from the trenches with the top dressing material. A reciprocating finishing apparatus brushes the mixed soil back into the aeration trenches to stabilize the surface of the ground. A rotary member has radially projecting blades that, upon rotation, form the continuous linear trenches defining unstable islands of earth therebetween. The finishing device includes rearwardly projecting fingers that reciprocate transversely to brush the mixed soil and top dressing material back into the formed aeration trenches to stabilize the islands of earth.

  • Patent number: 6912750
Abstract: A hydraulically operated dock leveler having a single cylinder that raises the ramp and extends the lip. The leveler includes a ramp assembly that is hinged at its rear edge to a supporting structure and a lip that is hinged to the forward edge and can be pivoted between a downwardly hanging pendant position and an extended position. A lip extension crank is attached to the forward hinge and a hydraulic cylinder is interposed between the crank and the supporting structure. The hydraulic system includes a pump to provide fluid to the cylinder at the desired pressure to raise the ramp and extend the lip. By operating the cylinder, the ramp assembly rises from a horizontal cross traffic position to an upwardly inclined position. As the ramp nears the top of its inclined position the extension crank is actuated downward allowing the hydraulic cylinder to rotate the crank about the hinge and extend the lip. When operation of the pump is discontinued, the ramp will descend until the lip engages the bed of a truck.
