  • Patent number: 6360625
Abstract: The invention provides a power transmission apparatus having a reduced power transmission loss. In the power transmission apparatus, an input shaft side variable pitch circle gear, an output shaft side variable pitch circle gear and a cycloid sliding gear which have a shape accumulated by a cycloid gear in which a pitch circle continuously changes are meshed with each other. • Patent number: 6357315
Abstract: An arrangement 1 for selectively actuating the four-wheel drive and differential lock engagement means of a vehicle comprises a hand operable selector mounted a bracket 4, the bracket 4 including a pathway, the selector comprising a protrusion which co-operates with the said pathway, so that movement of the selector in a first direction from a first position to a second position actuates four-wheel drive, and further movement in the first direction from the second position to a third position actuates the said differential lock, the pathway preventing the selector from moving in the first direction from the second position to the third position without first being moved in a second direction.

  • Patent number: 6354169
Abstract: In a vehicle air conditioner, inside air and outside air are switched by first and second inside/outside air switching doors. The first inside/outside air switching door is operated by a first door lever operatively linked with an inside/outside air operation member of an operation panel. On the other hand, the second inside/outside air switching door is operated by a second door lever which is operated by a mode operation lever operatively linked with a mode operation member of the operation panel, a temperature-adjustment operation lever operatively linked with a temperature-adjustment operation member of the operation panel, and an elastic force of a spring. When an air outlet mode except for a defroster mode is manually set by the mode operation member, and when maximum heating is manually set by the temperature-adjustment operation member, the second inside/outside air switching door is operated to an inside air introduction state by the second door lever.

  • Patent number: 6354168
Abstract: A tripod bearing device featuring a stationary frame and a carrier moveable relative to it, which are connected together via three braces that are adjustable in their lengths. Each brace is coupled to the frame and to the carrier via a joint each with two rotational degrees of freedom. Moreover, a torsion drive is assigned to each brace for twisting the carrier-end joint of the relevant brace relative to the frame-end joint of this brace about its longitudinal axis. Consequently, a constructively simple parallel structure with three machining axes can be realized which, with its high dynamic stiffness, enables an accurate positioning of the carrier. Furthermore, a method for torsion compensation in the braces is given.

  • Patent number: 6354167
Abstract: A SCARA type robot with counterbalanced arms and tilting base. This apparatus enables accurate planar movement of a probe. Weak or flexible foundations or footings do not affect positioning accuracy of the probe. Positioning accuracy, relative to the movement plane, of a probe is unaffected by positions of the arms. At any angle of the probe movement plane the counterbalanced arms allow the same size drive motors, torque transmission devices, and drive electronics. These features make the invention very useful for on-site or portable near-field testing of antennas. A manipulator may be used in place of the probe. Most of the benefits will be retained if load variations on the manipulator are kept small.

  • Patent number: 6352004
Abstract: A working device, especially a ramming device for compacting soil, or a hammer, has a crank mechanism for producing a controlled vibration. The crank mechanism is coupled with a set of springs. According to the invention, the crank disk belonging to the crank mechanism is provided with a counter-mass whose center of gravity is shifted around an angle not equal to 180° from the center of gravity of a crank pin on the crank disk, in relation to the axis of rotation of the crank disk. This prevents vibrations which would be unpleasant for the person operating the device from occurring.

  • Patent number: 6349612
Abstract: A steering apparatus for a four-wheeled vehicle transmits a steering force through a steering shaft, a reduction gear, a steering lever and right and left tie rods to right and left knuckles. The reduction gear includes a pinion gear turned by the steering shaft, a steering gear engaged with the pinion gear and fixedly mounted on a lever shaft, which is combined with the steering lever, and a gear case housing the pinion gear and the steering gear. The lever shaft has a first end portion supported in a bearing held on the gear case. The bearing permits the lever shaft to be turned therein. The lever has a second end portion supported in a bearing hole that permits the second end portion to be shifted in the back-and-forth direction. The second end portion of the lever shaft is biased by a spring so as to press the steering gear against the pinion gear so that no backlash is formed between the pinion gear and the steering gear.

  • Patent number: 6349607
Abstract: A transfer ring (10) for a continously variable transmission. The transfer ring (10) includes an inner ring (12), an outer ring (18) and a spacer ring (24). The inner, outer and spacer rings are substantially coaxial with a transfer ring (10) axis. The spacer ring (24) is disposed radially between the inner and outer rings. The inner and outer rings are secured to the spacer ring (24) to substantially prevent relative movement therebetween. The spacer ring (24) has non-overlapping radially inwardly (26) and radially outwardly (27) facing slots extending respectively into inner and outer circumferences thereof. Laminar segments (42) are mounted in each of the slots and are slidably displaceable in a direction parallel to the transfer ring axis (22). The segments (42) are generally radially aligned with the transfer ring axis (22) and have upper (44) and lower (45) tabs straddling the spacer ring (24) to limit the distance which the segments (42) may be slidably displaced.

  • Patent number: 6349606
Abstract: Apparatus embodying the invention includes first and second motors coupled to a carriage assembly for moving the carriage assembly back and forth between first and second end points. The first motor is for developing a force to drive the carriage in one direction and the second motor is for developing a force to drive the carriage in an opposite, second direction. When the first motor causes the movement of the carriage in one direction, the slowing, stopping and reversal of the carriage is achieved by varying the power supplied to the second motor relative to the power supplied to the first motor until the force exerted by the second motor first equals and then exceeds the force exerted by the second motor. So operated, the carriage motion is well controlled and exhibits little, if any, backlash.

  • Patent number: 6339970
Abstract: In a steering column (1) which is telescopic in the event of a crash, an outer column tube (6) is connected to a stem (7) by means of a shearing body (10). This two-piece shearing body (10) has a shearing area which is reduced relative to its external dimensions and is determined by a projection connecting its two sections (11, 12). The shearing body (10) can therefore absorb relatively large axial forces, for example for assembly purposes, and yet permits maximum admissible shearing forces which can be set largely as desired and which at the same time can be reproduced with high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 6336373
Abstract: A drivig rotary shaft and a follower rotary shaft are rotatably carried in a housing of a rotary solenoid. Operating members fixed to the rotary shafts by clips are operatively connected to each other by gears, and a locked member is locked non-movably by locking surfaces formed at tip ends of the operating members. This makes it unnecessary to provide a device for converting a rectilinear motion to a rotational motion such as a pin and an elongated bore in a path of transmission of a driving force from the rotary solenoid to the operating members. Therefore, not only the number of parts and the number of assembling steps are reduced, but also the number of slide areas, where a friction resistance and looseness are liable to be produced, is reduced, thereby enabling a noiseless smooth operation.
