  • Patent number: 7364610
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a sensor including, inter alia, a body having first and second spaced-apart apertures, the first aperture having a shape producing an audible noise upon a fluid passing therethrough; a piston positioned within the body; and a chamber having an additional fluid disposed therein, with a volume of the additional fluid placing the piston between first and second positions, the first position impeding the first volume of fluid and the second position allowing the first volume of fluid to pass through the first aperture.

  • Patent number: 7344585
Abstract: An improved mixed matrix membrane for the separation of gases comprises a nitrogen containing compound such as an amine, silicone rubber and activated carbon on a porous support. The membrane may also comprise a carbonate such as potassium carbonate and a plasticizer such as polyethylene glycol. Membranes of this design may be used in processing natural gas or other gases. The gases which may be separated by the membrane include mixtures of methane and carbon dioxide, mixtures of oxygen and nitrogen, and mixtures of carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

  • Patent number: 7338547
Abstract: Electro-magnetic-energy absorbing materials are used to treat air filters, such as those used in association with electronic equipment thereby suppressing the transmission of electromagnetic interference (EMI) therethrough. Disclosed are processes and materials for applying EMI-absorbing materials to air filters thereby improving EMI-shielding effectiveness in an economically efficient manner. In one embodiment, an absorptive solution is prepared using an absorptive material and a binding agent. A heavy coating of absorbing solution applied to an air filter substrate, for example by dipping or spraying. Excess absorbing material is subsequently removed and the absorbing material cured, such that the passage of air through the filter remains substantially unimpeded. The resulting absorptive air filter is then optionally treated with a flame retardant to meet a predetermined safety standard.

  • Patent number: 7294174
Abstract: An air dehydration membrane is made of a hydrophilic polymer having a permeability for water vapor which is greater than its permeability for air, and having low selectivity between oxygen and nitrogen. The membrane has a hydrophilic coating, which itself may be a polymer. The coating does not affect the selectivity of the coated membrane with respect to oxygen and nitrogen, but does increase selectivity of the membrane with respect to water vapor. A preferred material for the membrane is polysulfone. Preferred materials for the coating are poly vinyl alcohol and Triton X-100. The membrane is selected such that the dominant mechanism for gas flow through the membrane is Knudsen flow. The membranes are made at low cost, and can outperform existing commercial membranes in either volumetric productivity or product recovery.
