Abstract: A crystalline form of phenyl bis (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phosphine oxide, with a large particle size, which belongs to a triclinic crystal system and space group P-1. A crystallization method for making the crystalline form of phenyl bis (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phosphine oxide, comprising adding a solid of phenyl bis (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phosphine oxide to a solvent and mixing; followed by heating to 50 to 70° C. to achieve complete dissolution; cooling the solution to room temperature; and adding an anti-solvent to the resulting solution to cause precipitation of crystals. The crystals are allowed to grow at a constant temperature for 10 to 60 minutes, so as to give a slurry containing the crystals. Said slurry is subjected to filtration and then drying to obtain the crystalline form of phenyl bis (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phosphine oxide.

Abstract: In a method for oxidizing 1,1-bis-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)-alkane with nitric acid in a pressure vessel to produce 3,3?,4,4?-benzophenone tetracarboxylic acid with concurrent formation of nitric oxide, passing nitric oxide from the pressure vessel into an absorption vessel and reacting nitric oxide in the absorption vessel with molecular oxygen and water to produce an aqueous nitric acid solution prevents discharge of nitric oxide, avoids the risk of oxygen inhibiting the nitric acid oxidation and reduces nitric acid consumption when the nitric acid from the absorption vessel is used for oxidizing the 1,1-bis-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)-alkane.

Abstract: A process for producing acetic acid that involves operating the flash vessel and first column at the lowest possible pressure for a given production rate is described. Low pressures are achieved by operating on a back pressure established by a vapor discharge from an absorbing system. This reduces the pressure differential to allow steady and efficient acetic acid production.
Abstract: A process and a preparation plant prepares methacrolein from formaldehyde and propionaldehyde, in presence of water and a homogeneous catalyst based at least on an acid and a base. A reaction mixture is introduced into a methacrolein workup plant and separated in a first distillation column, into a first distillation mixture in a gas phase at the top and a second distillation mixture in a liquid phase at the bottom. The first distillation mixture is condensed and, in a first phase separator, the organic phase and the aqueous phase of the condensate are separated from one another. The aqueous phase is introduced into a second distillation column, that is not part of the methacrolein workup plant, and is separated into a third distillation mixture in a gas phase at the top and a fourth distillation mixture at the bottom. The third distillation mixture is introduced into the methacrolein workup plant.

Abstract: Provided is a method of producing various 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid derivatives in high yields with no need to load a raw material in a large excess for improving a reaction conversion ratio, and without use of a catalyst having high toxicity or a strong acid catalyst. Also provided are powder compounds that may be utilized as raw materials for synthesizing various chemical products. A method of producing a 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid derivative includes causing the powder of a salt of a 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid anion and an alkali metal cation (component A), and a halide (component B) to react with each other to produce a 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid derivative. The 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid alkali metal salt powder is the powder of a salt of a 2-((meth)allyloxymethyl)acrylic acid anion and an alkali metal cation, and has a bulk density of 0.50 g/mL or more, or a water content of 0.05 wt % or less.
