  • Patent number: 11797079
Abstract: A variable effect activation system includes one or more sensors that generate data. The data can be assessed to determine if the data is indicative of a valid input to an interactive effect. Valid inputs may be assessed based on a lenient or relatively non-stringent threshold to permit a wide variety of guest actions to be considered valid inputs. While many of these guest actions may not be recognized as part of preprogrammed interactions with an interactive environment, the system nonetheless assesses characteristics of these inputs to provide an appropriate response, e.g., via activation of an interactive effect in a manner that aligns with the characteristics.

  • Patent number: 11782503
Abstract: An electronic device may have a display for displaying image content. Head-mounted support structures in the device may be used to support the display. The electronic device may have an eye monitoring system that detects eye saccades and eye blinks. Control circuitry in the electronic device may coordinate operation of the display with periods of suppressed visual sensitivity that are associated with the saccades and blinks. By making adjustments to display circuitry and image content during periods of suppressed visual sensitivity, potentially visually obtrusive changes to displayed images can be hidden from a user of the electronic device. Adjustments to display operation may help reduce burn-in effects, may help reduce power consumption, and may otherwise improve device performance.

  • Patent number: 11762508
Abstract: Grip detection can be beneficial for an electronic device to ignore unintended contacts on a touch sensitive surface. Examples of the disclosure provide various ways for identifying an input patch as a grip. In some examples, identifying an input patch as a grip comprises determining whether the input patch satisfies one or more grip identification criteria. In some examples, identified grips are saved in a grip database. In some examples, the identified grips are filtered out of touch images. In some examples, when baseline touch data for a touch-sensitive is updated, the touch processor can forgo updating the baseline for portions of the touch sensitive surface associated with the identified grips.

  • Patent number: 11656678
Abstract: An electronic device detects a user presence in a first distance range from a user detection sensor of an electronic device. The electronic device communicates with multiple input components, setting the electronic device to a first device state based on detecting a user presence in the first distance range. The first device state applies a scanning rate to a first input component. The electronic device also detects a user presence in a second distance range from the user detection sensor of the electronic device while the electronic device is in the first device state. The electronic device sets the electronic device to a second device state, based on detecting a user presence in the second distance range while the electronic device is in the first device state. The second device state applies a different scanning rate to the first input component than in the first device state.
