  • Patent number: 8453671
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an internal pressure of a hermetically sealed chamber at a prescribed pressure level serves to relax pressure changes in the hermetically sealed chamber. The chamber is connected to an inlet passage for supplying air from an external environment through an aseptic filter, an outlet passage for discharging a gas through an aseptic filter, and an inlet valve and an outlet valve for selectively opening and closing the inlet passage and the outlet passage, respectively. The apparatus also includes a controller for controlling the inlet valve and the outlet valve to keep the internal pressure of the chamber at a prescribed positive pressure level. An elastic membrane of silicone rubber which is expanded or retracted depending on a change in the internal pressure of the chamber to relax the pressure change is connected to the outlet passage between the aseptic filter and the outlet valve.

  • Patent number: 8439071
Abstract: A vortex breaker fits over an outlet of a vessel. The breaker has a basket disposed on a base with an opening communicating with the vessel's outlet. The basket has a cylindrical sidewall screen with profiled wires arranged around bars that extend from the base. The basket also has a top screen attached to the sidewall screen. The top screen has wires arranged across a plurality of bars. Fluid flow passing through the screens is directed by the profiled wires and the bars. Below the top screen, a baffle plate diverts the fluid flow passing through the top screen to the periphery of the top plate. Inside the basket, a flow modifier has a vanes attached to the base and disposed radially around the base's opening. At least some of the vanes have cross-tees extending from the vane's sides to break the radially directed flow inside the basket.

  • Patent number: 8336849
Abstract: A valve includes a housing defining a bore having an inlet and extending along a longitudinal axis. A head is attached to the housing and defines a head passage having an outlet. A piston is disposed within the bore and includes a piston passage extending through the piston along the longitudinal axis. The piston is moveable between a closed position in which a sealing end of the piston abuts a seat of the head to close fluid communication through the piston passage and an open position in which the sealing end of the piston is axially spaced along the longitudinal axis from the seat of the head to permit fluid communication through the piston passage between the inlet and the outlet. The housing defines an equalizing chamber in fluid communication with the head passage for damping movement of the piston.

  • Patent number: 8297303
Abstract: A self cleaning valve assembly includes a valve body having an internal valve cavity. A cylinder member received in the valve cavity has a first sealing surface and a cylinder wall, and divides the valve cavity into a liquid-free cavity portion and a flow cavity portion. A spindle includes a spindle body contacting the first sealing surface to continuously prevent pressurized fluid in the flow cavity portion from entering the liquid-free cavity portion. A spindle piston end has a wiper member in a receiving groove frictionally contacting the cylinder wall. A handle pinned to the valve assembly directly contacts the piston end. Handle rotation displaces the spindle from a valve closed to a valve open position permitting pressurized fluid flow into the flow cavity portion. The wiper member wipes a contaminant off the cylinder wall and further prevents contaminant entrance into the liquid-free cavity portion.
