  • Patent number: 11533263
Abstract: A Self-Describing Packet block (SDPB) is defined that allows concurrent processing of various fixed headers in a packet block defined to take advantage of multiple cores in a networking node forwarding path architecture. SPDB allows concurrent processing of various pieces of header data, metadata, and conditional commands carried in the same data packet by checking a serialization flag set upon creation of the data packet, without needing to serialize the processing or even parsing of the packet. When one or h more commands in one or more sub-blocks may be processed concurrently, the one or more commands are distributed to multiple processing resources for processing the commands in parallel. This architecture allows multiple unique functionalities each with their own separate outcome (execution of commands, doing service chaining, performing telemetry, allows virtualization and path steering) to be performed concurrently with simplified packet architecture without incurring additional encapsulation overhead.

  • Patent number: 11510105
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for UPF control with coexistence of policy control and packet filters dynamically generated at the SMF. For example, if the SMF obtains an event subscription with traffic descriptors from another entity, and if there is no installed PDR with the same traffic descriptor, the SMF may construct a PDR with an action according to the subscribed event. The SMF may configure the UPF with the constructed PDR. In certain embodiments, to construct the PDR, the SMF may copy the PDR that would have previously matched the incoming traffic described by the traffic descriptor in the notification subscription, and associates the PDR with a higher priority, the traffic descriptor and a notification action according to the subscribed event. To configure the UPF, the SMF may provide the PDR with the higher priority, the received traffic descriptor, and the notification action, according to some embodiments.

  • Patent number: 11510115
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method. According to the method, a mark is added to a data packet. After user equipment is handed over from an original device to a target device, and before a user plane network element receives a handover notification, the user plane network element sends, through a path used before handover, a data packet that carries a first mark to the original device. The original device modifies the first mark in the data packet to a second mark, and then forwards, to the target device, a data packet whose mark is modified and that carries the second mark. After receiving the handover notification, the user plane network element sends, to the target device, a data packet that carries a fourth mark. The target device can distinguish between sources of the received data packets based on different marks in the received data packets.

  • Patent number: 11502962
Abstract: Embodiments of this application disclose a method, an apparatus, and a system for implementing data transmission. The method includes: obtaining, by a sending device, a data packet in a target data flow; and sending the data packet through each of at least two physical links between the sending device and a receiving device, where the data packet sent through each of the at least two physical links includes a same sequence number. Because the data packet in the target data flow is sent through different physical links, not through only one physical link, when a transmission latency of the data packet is increased due to a bandwidth instability factor such as burst traffic or electromagnetic wave interference on any physical link, the receiving device can combine, into a target video flow, data packets that are sent through other physical links and that have a lower latency.

  • Patent number: 11497048
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards operating a user equipment node as a scheduler user equipment (e.g., which can be a local manager of other nodes in a group). The scheduler user equipment receives a scheduling request for the scheduling of the resources for transmission of data by a transmitter user equipment, and based on the traffic type requested, schedules the transmitter user equipment and receiver user equipment(s) with scheduling data/allocated radio resources. The transmitter user equipment can directly transmit to the receiver user equipment(s) on the allocated radio resources, e.g., without further involvement of the scheduler user equipment/local manager. For cellular data, the scheduler user equipment can schedule the transmitter user equipment to transmit to the scheduler user equipment as a receiver node.

  • Patent number: 11470016
Abstract: Approaches, techniques, and mechanisms are disclosed for efficiently buffering data units within a network device. A traffic manager or other network device component receives Transport Data Units (“TDUs”), which are sub-portions of Protocol Data Units (“PDUs”). Rather than buffer an entire TDU together, the component divides the TDU into multiple Storage Data Units (“SDUs”) that can fit in SDU buffer entries within physical memory banks. A TDU-to-SDU Mapping (“TSM”) memory stores TSM lists that indicate which SDU entries store SDUs for a given TDU. Physical memory banks in which the SDUs are stored may be grouped together into logical SDU banks that are accessed together as if a single bank. The TSM memory may include a number of distinct TSM banks, with each logical SDU bank having a corresponding TSM bank. Techniques for maintaining inter-packet and intra-packet linking data compatible with such buffers are also disclosed.
