Abstract: Multi-dimensional logging for enterprise applications is described. A computer executes a logging mechanism. The logging mechanism receives, via a user interface, selections of log detail levels that range from a minimum log detail level to a maximum log detail level, of contexts that include at least two of an analytics context, a security context, a performance context, and a health context, and use cases that include at least two of an export use case, a save use case, an import use case, a check-in use case, and a check-out use case. The logging mechanism creates a multi-dimensional logging artifact based on selections of log detail levels, contexts, and use cases, and utilizes the multi-dimensional logging artifact with log data to create refined log data based on the selections of log detail levels, contexts, and use cases. The refined log data assists a user in evaluating an enterprise application.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein to a computer-implemented method for providing assistive technology, the method comprising receiving, by a computing device, a media file comprising an assistive media component configured to assist a user with viewing or hearing a particular content file being screened at a venue; receiving, by a computing device, an audio portion of the content file using an audio receiving device; determining, by a computing device, a time signature of the audio portion of the content file by performing sound processing on the received audio portion of the content file; synchronizing, by a computing device, the media file with the content file by matching a time synchrony track of the media file with the determined time signature of the content file; and outputting, by a computing device, the assistive media component included in the media file in synchronization with the content file.

Abstract: Attributes in data records are identified. Episodes corresponding to the respective attributes include respective data records. The episodes are scored, where scoring of a particular one of the episodes is based on relative time densities between successive data records of the particular episode. A visualization of at least some of the episodes to provide an alert of time-dense episodes.

Abstract: A first storage system stores information relating to the updating of data stored in that system as a journal. More specifically, the journal is composed of a copy of data that was used for updating and update information such as a write command used during updating. Furthermore, the second storage system acquires the journal via a communication line between the first storage system and the second storage system. The second storage system holds a duplicate of the data held by the first storage system and updates the data corresponding to the data of the first storage system in the data update order of the first storage system by using the journal.

Abstract: Described are techniques for simulating a data storage configuration. First data is generated that describes a simulated data storage configuration. A database is populated using the first data. First information is retrieved from the database in connection with processing a request from a client. The first information includes at least a portion of the first data.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention is directed to a project search system, implemented on one or more computer systems, comprising two or more stored projects represented by electronically stored, computer-accessible data that are stored in a project-database component; a project-comparator subsystem, executed on the one or more computer systems, that generates a similarity metric for two electronically-represented projects input to the project-comparator subsystem; and a project search engine, executed on the one or more computer systems, that receives data that represents an input project, identifies, by pairwise comparison of the stored projects with the input project using the project-comparator subsystem, one or more stored projects with greatest similarity to the input project, and outputs, to a graphical interface displayed on a computer display or to an application program, indications of the one or more stored projects with greatest similarity to the input project.

Abstract: A method of improving accuracy of a database of amusement device locations is described. A plurality of amusement devices are deployed at a plurality of locations. The database of amusement device locations is populated based on the deploying. A server receives over a network, from a portable device, a check-in request. The check-in request is associated with one of the amusement devices, and includes geographic location information associated with the portable device at the time the check-in request is made. The server compares the geographic location information received from the portable device with the location of the amusement device stored in the database, and updates the database based on the comparing.

Abstract: A method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for backing up or archiving objects from a first location to a second location, comprising determining the objects to be backed up and a prioritization of the objects according to a first criterion. The objects are transmitted from the first location to the second location substantially in accordance with the prioritization. The transmission may be suspended in accordance with loss of network connectivity, a user action, or throttling to reduce processor or network load. Transmission may be continued, and the objects reprioritized according to the first criterion, wherein relevant changes in the objects are reflected. A backup target may be chosen based on the location of the source, and if the location changes, a new backup target may be chosen in consideration of bandwidth. The backups to the backup targets may be combined to define a backup.

Abstract: A system and method for real-time comparison of data objects stored in a repository. A comparison of a plurality of selected objects may be implemented. A metadata comparison summary may be displayed to the user. The comparison summary may identity the most viewed, most liked, most disliked, or also viewed objects. The metadata comparison may be displayed on a user interface via the addition of an identification icon, by color highlighting a list of objects in the repository, by displaying a comparison summary in an information panel, or by other methods of object identification. In an embodiment, the user may control the type of information displayed in the comparison summary.

Abstract: A method for estimating the selectivity of a database base table predicate, the cardinality of a join, and the cardinality of an aggregation. The method includes receiving a database query, the query comprising one or more query predicates and referencing one or more database tables. One or more join indexes are identified, the join index(es) defined on respective database tables referenced by the database query. The join index(es) comprises one or more join index predicates, and includes one or more join columns in its select list. The row count selected by the query predicates is calculated at least partly using the row count or statistics of the one or more join indexes. The selectivity of the base table predicate is calculated at least partly from the calculated row count. The cardinality of the join is estimated at least partly from the row count and statistics of the identified join index(es).

Abstract: A computing device including a file system in memory is provided. The file system has a plurality of items. Each item can be one of a file or a folder. Where an item is a file, it has a unique content. Where an item is a folder, it is represented by a plurality of container structures. Each container structure references items in the file system through the use of references such as pointers. Each item can be contained by more than one folder by being referenced by more than one folder. Each item can also include a contained-by structure including references to folders containing that item. Moreover, each item can include relationship structures allowing the items to be organized in accordance with relationships other than contained-by relationships, such as content derivation relationships. The file system can be manipulated through the use of various operations such as “Archive” and “Restore” operations.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are disclosed for searching for data. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method comprising identifying a query and a search scope including a set of specified entities; and for each of these entities, estimating a number of documents that would be identified in a search through the entity to answer the query. On the basis of this estimating, a subset of the entities is formed. The query and this subset of entities are sent to a search engine to search the subset of entities to answer the query. In one embodiment, the estimating includes collecting statistical information from queries to build up a historical cache using heuristics or machine learning techniques, wherein the query includes a key word and a scope, and the historical cache contains a maximum number of returned results for an entity given the queries executed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method, system and computer program for management of paid advertisements displayed in response to a search query entered into a search engine. A vendor's inventory is discovered by reading from an inventory database. Search terms are determined for item categories in the inventory database, reading from fields of the inventory database. A user can specify additional or replacement search terms to be associated with a particular item. Advertisement sets are then created for items which are currently available or “in stock,” each set containing an advertisement corresponding to an item, the associated search terms, and a landing page identifier. The landing page displays search results from the vendor's inventory database, relating to the corresponding item category for that advertisement.

Abstract: Measures, including methods, apparatus and computer program products, are provided for creating display space in relation to a page requested by a client from a server for display by that client. A method comprises: configuring a domain name service to route requests for pages hosted at the server to a system; receiving at the system a request from the client for a page from the server, the system being configured to communicate with the client and the server, the request being received on the basis of the configuring; and transmitting, from the system to the client, a reference to a frame-set whereby to cause the client to request that frame-set, wherein, at least one frame of the frame-set includes a reference to cause the client to display the page.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an enhanced facility plan includes receiving an asset list, electronic documents relating to one or more assets and an input image file for providing a visual representation of a facility plan including assets in the facility. The image file is scanned to automatically identify one or more asset tags having a corresponding asset tag entry in the asset list and for each identified asset tag, a position on the facility plan associated with the asset tag. A modified visual representation of the facility plan is provided as the enhanced facility plan, the modified visual representation including one or more added objects, each object having a relationship with an identified asset tag and having a location determined by the position associated with the related asset tag, wherein each object is selectable by a user to enable access to one or more of the electronic documents. The method may provide a convenient way of handing over information after construction of a facility.

Abstract: An apparatus, method and article of manufacture of the present invention detects the presence of references to the same concept in separate sections of text, and, with no input required from the reader, presents the reader with information concerning the detected references to the concept. The information provided may comprise information related to the location of the reference to the concept in other sections of text, and the reader also is provided the ability to move from one reference to a concept directly to another reference to the same concept.

Abstract: A method and device for displaying messages including receiving messages, querying and acquiring a user message memory database corresponding to a sender user number according to the sender user number carried in the messages; combining the received messages according to a preset time strategy and the acquired user message memory database; and displaying the combined message. The amount of new messages displayed in a message receiving interface list can be increased, user's chat experience can be improved, and display screen utilization rate can be improved.

Abstract: A database rollback processor allows rollback, or rewind, of the data and metadata to a point at which a failover or other metadata change occurred, therefore “rewinding” the metadata to a previous consistent point. The rollback processor identifies transaction entries in a redo log resulting in changes to the metadata. The changes are identified backward to a target recovery time. Transactions affecting the metadata are stored in a stack. The transactions are then backed out of the metadata according to the stack to restore the metadata to the state at the target recovery time. Data changes from the redo log may then be applied to the corresponding metadata as it existed at the target recovery time. Since the target recovery time is not bound by the timing of the snapshots, but rather may be at an arbitrary point chosen as the target recovery time, a failover, replication or recovery operation need not rely on the snapshot time.

Abstract: A method of generating predictive reports includes recording a user identification, a timestamp including a connection date, and a query associated with report requested by a user from a database system for each connection of the user identification to the database system during a predetermined period. A plurality of intervals is defined in the predetermined period. Retrieved are instances of the user identification associated with connections of the user identification to the database system during a threshold number of the plurality of intervals based on a position that a current date occupies in a current interval, such that a position of each connection date in a respective interval is the same as the position that the current date occupies in the current interval. The query is executed to generate the report from the database system on the current date prior to a request for the report from the user.
