Abstract: The present invention relates to a diamond tool and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein multiple abrasive layers are formed through a brazing or electroplating method, thereby improving the performance and service life of the tool. According to the method of the present invention, a plurality of concave portions are formed in a surface of the shank. A bonding paste is coated into the concave portions and abrasives are dispersed in the bonding paste to thereby form a lower abrasive layer. Again, a bonding material is coated on the lower abrasive layer and abrasives are dispersed in the bonding material to thereby form an upper abrasive layer. Then, a heat treatment is executed to fusion-bond the bonding material and abrasives onto the surface of the shank.

Abstract: A compressor includes a swash plate, and a shoe connected to an outer periphery of the swash plate. A surface of the swash plate slides upon a flat surface of the shoe. A sliding film is applied to the surface of the swash plate. The sliding film is formed of binder resin which contains a solid lubricant and titanium oxide powder. This allows the surface of the swash plate and the flat surface of the shoe to smoothly slide upon each other.

Abstract: Since structural portions of a device made of a plurality of materials are different from one another in mechanical hardness, it is very difficult to uniformly lap the structural portions. This is attributable to generation of machining recessions due to differences in lapped amount when large fixed abrasive grains are used, and generation of lapping marks caused by that the dropped abrasive grains rotate. Accordingly, in order to cope with the disadvantage, it is essential to surely grip abrasive grains of small size to a surface of a surface plate.

Abstract: A cutting tool including a fine and uniform alumina-based substrate is disclosed herein. In an exemplary embodiment, the alumina-based substrate includes 0.1 to 25% by volume of one or more metal oxides, or 5 to 80% by volume of metal carbonitride and 0.01 to 10% by volume of one or more metal oxides. Metal constituting the metal oxide and the metal carbonitride is selected from the group consisting of elements from Groups III to VI (including La group and Ac group) of the periodic table, Mg and Co. The metal oxides added to alumina reside at the boundaries of alumina grains, thereby prohibiting the alumina grains from growing excessively during a sintering process.
