Abstract: Disclosed are blue shade red to magenta monoazo pigments which are obtained by diazotization of 5-alkoxy-2-aminobenzenesulfonic acids, coupling of the diazonium compound with a hydoxynaphthalenesulfonic acid and subsequent laking of the coupling product with a divalent metal salt. The pigments are characterized by the formula:
wherein R is a lower alkyl, e.g. a methyl or ethyl group, or a hydroxycarbyl group, R1 is hydrogen, chloro, a lower alkyl group such as methyl or ethyl, or a lower alkoxy group such as a methoxy or an ethoxy group, and M is Ca, Sr, Ba, Mn, Mg or Zn. The new pigments have a magenta color, excellent heat stability, bleed fastness and very high color strength. These pigments are suitable for the pigmenting of plastics, inks and coatings, among other materials.
Abstract: The present application relates to the inclusion of one or more wrinkle reducing ingredients in a laundry fabric softening product. The benefits are delivered to the laundered item either during the rinse step of the washing procedure or in the dryer. The need for further wrinkle reducing steps when the items are taken from the dryer or after hang drying are thereby reduced.

Abstract: A composite pigment of a bluish green color comprises copper phthalocyanine and aluminum phthalocyanine which are preferably in the form of a mixture or solid solution. The composite pigment can be produced by mixing copper phthalocyanine and aluminum phthalocyanine into a mixture and then converting said mixture into a pigment form. A coloring composition comprises at least a resin and a pigment which comprises copper phthalocyanine and aluminum phthalocyanine. The coloring composition can be produced by mixing copper phthalocyanine and aluminum phthalocyanine which have been independently comminuted, into a composite pigment, and then kneading the pigment and a resin such that the pigment is dispersed in the resin. An image recording substance is produced using the coloring composition.

Abstract: An anti-corrosive coating for structural steel components contains 3 to 80 wt. % of a binder including polymeric material, and 20 to 97 wt. % of a filler including semiconductive elements or compounds. A process for welding a steel component coated with such an anti-corrosive coating involves temporarily energizing the semiconductive material of the coating into its conductive state and then carrying out the welding process, e.g. electric spot welding, while the semiconductive material is in the conductive state. Thereby, the coating does not hamper the electric welding operation. The step of energizing the semiconductive material is achieved by temporarily applying an external energy such as localized heating or incident light radiation having a photon energy corresponding to an energy band gap of the semiconductive material.
Abstract: The present spin finish composition comprises at least about 10 percent by weight based on the spin finish composition of components (a) and (b) having the formula

x is zero or one,
R2 may vary within component (a) or component (b) and is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or an alkyl group having from one to four carbon atoms,
y is zero, or from one to 25, and
z is zero or one,

Abstract: A process is disclosed for the direct preparation of pigmentary 1,4-diketopyrrolo-[3,4-c]pyrroles of the formula (I)
wherein each of R1 and R2 independently of the other is an isocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical, which process comprises heating an appropriate molar ratio of a disuccinate with a nitrile of the formula (II)

or of the formula (III)
R2—CN (III)
or with mixtures of said nitrites, in an organic solvent and in the presence of a strong base and an effective amount of a selected particle growth inhibitor of formula (IV)-(X), and then obtaining the compound of formula (I) from the reaction product by protolysis. The process yields pigmentary 1,4-diketopyrrolo-[3,4-c]pyrroles directly, i.e., without the need for additional particle-size reducing aftertreatments. Also disclosed is a composition comprising a pigmentary 1,4-diketopyrrolo-[3,4-c]pyrrole and the particle growth inhibitor.
