  • Patent number: 5464528
Abstract: An inertial/filtering separator in a single vessel and FCC process using same as a third stage separator are disclosed. Gas and fines are added tangentially to an annulus formed by a cylindrical insert in a vessel. Gas flows over the insert and down to filters in the vessel. Solids are withdrawn from the base of the annulus and periodically from the filter. Three types of solids collection--inertial, gravity settling and filtration--are practiced in a single vessel.

  • Patent number: 5464800
Abstract: A reforming process, selective for the dehydrocyclization of paraffins to aromatics, is effected using a bed of catalyst particles containing multiple Group VIII (8-10) noble metals having different gradients within the catalyst particles and a nonacidic large-pore molecular sieve. The use of this bed of catalyst particles results in greater selectivity of conversion of paraffins to aromatics and improved catalyst stability, particularly in the presence of small amounts of sulfur.

  • Patent number: 5463154
Abstract: A method for acetylene hydrogenation which involves adding a member selected from the group consisting of arsine and phosphine to moderate the activity of acetylene hydrogenation catalysts while maintaining acceptable catalyst activity and avoiding the risk of product quality contamination by the acetylene converter moderator. The acetylene hydrogenation process involves adding arsine at a concentration level within the range of about 1 wppb-3 wppb to the gas, such as ethylene, containing acetylene to prevent temperature runaway during the exothermic acetylene hydrogenation reaction. By controlling the presence of arsine levels to such a relatively low level, temperature runaway during the highly exothermic acetylene hydrogenation reaction is prevented while maintaining acceptable catalyst activity levels for purposes of the acetylene hydrogenation reaction.

  • Patent number: 5460691
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a method capable of performing surface treatment of a plurality of semiconductor substrates at one time and treating them uniformly with high selectivity. A plurality of semiconductor substrates having interlayer insulating films thereon are prepared. The plurality of semiconductor substrates are arranged in a vertical direction at predetermined intervals in a reaction chamber so that one face of each faces upwards and the other face of each faces downwards. Etching gas for etching the surfaces of the interlayer insulating films is sent into the reaction chamber in a direction vertical to the surfaces of said semiconductor substrates under low pressure.

  • Patent number: 5461184
Abstract: A method for extracting diamondoid compounds from a hydrocarbonaceous fluid such as natural gas, that contains diamondoid compounds is disclosed. The hydrocarbonaceous fluid is mixed with a first solvent in which diamondoids are at least partially soluble. The resulting mixture is separated into a vapor stream and a diamondoid-enriched solvent stream. The vapor stream is then countercurrently flowed past a second solvent in a multistage contacting device, so that a diamondoid-depleted vapor stream and a second diamondoid-enriched solvent stream are created. The diamondoid-enriched solvent streams can be recycled and either added to the first solvent or removed if they are highly saturated with diamondoid compounds.
