Abstract: The present invention involves peptides derived from nerve growth factor receptor protein. Such peptides are characterized by competing for NGF binding to NGF receptor at high concentrations while accentuating NGF binding at low concentrations. Preferred peptides include Cys-Glu-Glu-Cys-Pro-Glu-OH, Asn-Thr-Val-Cys-Glu-Glu-Cys-Pro-Glu-OH, Gln-Asp-Lys-Gln-Asn-Thr-Val-Cys-Glu-Glu-Cys-Pro-Glu-OH and Cys-Gln-Asp-Lys-Gln-Asn-Thr-Val-Cys-Glu-Glu-Cys-Pro-Glu-OH.
