  • Patent number: 11506034
Abstract: The method for enhancing shallow heavy oil reservoir production is an enhanced oil recovery method for shallow heavy oil reservoirs using cyclic steam polymer injection. The method involves injecting steam into the reservoir through an injection well, shutting down the well for three months to allow the steam to soak into the reservoir, then opening the well and injecting a viscous polymer concentration of 0.7 lb/STB into the reservoir. The cycle may be repeated three times over the life of the reservoir. The heated steam reduces the viscosity of the heavy oil, and the polymer displaces the oil to the production well. The method avoids the production rate drop normally associated with steam injection. Although continuous steam injection produces a higher cumulative oil production, cyclic steam polymer injection has lower capital cost and produces a better Net Present Value (NPV).

  • Patent number: 11466538
Abstract: A chemically-activated inflow control device. The inflow control device comprises a tubular body configured to be connected in series to joints of sand screen in a wellbore. The tubular body forms a bore that receives a slotted base pipe. At the same time, the tubular body is fluidly connected with the sand screen joints, forming an annular flow path between the slotted base pipe and surrounding sand screen. Production fluids moving into the sand screen pass across a component that degrades in the presence of water. If the well begins producing water, the degradable component will dissolve, activating a sealing mechanism within the inflow control device and closing a restricted flow path. In this way, production fluids are not able to travel from the annular flow path into the bore of the slotted base pipe. A method for completing a wellbore having a chemically-activated inflow control device is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11359455
Abstract: An elastomer sleeve is applied to a wellbore tubular. The elastomer sleeve, which defines a circumference around longitudinal bore in a longitudinal direction, is brought in an elastically stretched condition by applying a stretching force to the elastomer sleeve. While the elastomer sleeve is kept in the elastically stretched condition, it is moved in the longitudinal direction over the wellbore tubular to a selected position on the wellbore tubular whereby the wellbore tubular extends through the bore. The elastomer sleeve is then snuggly fitted to an outside surface of the wellbore tubular by relaxing the elastically stretching force. The thus prepared wellbore tubular may be lowered into a wellbore in the Earth, and cement may be pumped on the outside of the wellbore tubular to form a cement sheath which fully surrounds the elastomer sleeve.
