  • Patent number: 11399719
Abstract: Disclosed are a probe for photoacoustic measurement which can suppress generation of artifacts obstructive to signal observation in a photoacoustic measurement, and a photoacoustic measurement apparatus including the same. The probe for photoacoustic measurement includes a light emission unit which emits measurement light to a subject, and an acoustic wave detection unit which detects a photoacoustic wave generated in the subject by the emission of measurement light. An emission end surface of the light emission unit is positioned to a side where the acoustic wave detection unit is located, with respect to a contact plane of the probe, and an optical axis at the emission end surface is inclined to a side opposite to the side on which the acoustic wave detection unit is positioned with respect to a normal direction of a detection surface of the acoustic wave detection unit.

  • Patent number: 11375982
Abstract: A shear wave velocity is accurately measured. Time change data of a displacement of a tissue due to a shear wave generated in a test object is calculated from a reception signal obtained by transmitting an ultrasonic wave to the test object and receiving a reflected wave. The time change data of the displacement is converted into spectrum data indicating a displacement distribution in a frequency space having a spatial frequency and a time frequency as two axes. Spectrum data in a predetermined region is extracted by rotating the spectrum data by a predetermined angle in the frequency space, and filtering the rotated spectrum data. A velocity of the shear wave is calculated based on the extracted spectrum data in the predetermined region.

  • Patent number: 11331079
Abstract: The invention provides an ultrasound data processing method for pre-processing signal data in advance of generating ultrasound images. The method seeks to reduce noise through application of coherent persistence to a series of raw ultrasound signal representations representative of the same path or section through a body but at different successive times. A motion compensation procedure including amplitude peak registration and phase alignment is applied to raw echo signal data in advance of application of persistence in order to cohere the signals and thereby limit the introduction of motion induced artifacts.

  • Patent number: 11324393
Abstract: Where a flexible tool includes a tool body with a flexible portion, a distal end and a first optical fiber within the flexible portion, shape sensing can be achieved with increased accuracy by inserting or otherwise including a second optical fiber within the flexible portion. The increased accuracy can be achieved when the second optical fiber has a diameter larger than that of the first optical fiber. Once the shape of the flexible tool has been determined using at least the second optical fiber, the first optical fiber can be used for subsequent shape sensing. This may be particularly applicable where the tool includes an instrument such as an optical imaging device inserted in a channel of the tool, where not all of the width of the channel is occupied by functional components behind the operable end of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 11298025
Abstract: A non-invasive, optical method and device for the detection of melanoma in skin lesions. The detection of the presence of melanoma is accomplished optically by looking for specific changes (signatures) in the spectrum of optical light elastically scattered off melanoma molecules. Elastic scattering spectroscopy (ESS) converts subcellular morphological changes into scattering spectrum signatures. A melanoma discrimination analysis is performed by illuminating the lesion with a handheld device that also collects a portion of the scattered light, converts it into digital signals, analyzes the requisite spectral signatures, and provides a logical output showing the user the presence (or absence) of melanoma in the subject lesion.
