  • Patent number: 4789585
Abstract: A heat transfer element for cross flow heat exchanger consists of ceramic corrugated and planar plates. A plurality of the heat transfer elements are stacked up in such a manner that the direction of corrugation in adjacent elements intersects at right angles to form a heat transfer block for cross flow heat exchanger. Concave portions of corrugation, which confront soot-blowing flow for removing soot deposited onto the heat transfer surfaces of heat transfer block, are filled with ceramic solids. Also concave portions of corrugation corresponding to the corners, which abut the packings attached when the heat transfer block is installed on a casing, are filled with ceramic solids.

  • Patent number: 4789576
Abstract: The supporting bar, which could serve as a supporting arm for an articulated table lamp, is constituted by a plurality of thin, flat straps of elastic material which are juxtaposed in close contact and held pressed together within an outer cover, with sufficient force that when the bar is flexed, the frictional forces from cover and strap to strap maintain the bent shape, against the elastic forces tending to restore the unbent shape of each strap. One of the straps can be made of magnetized material and the others of ferromagnetic material.

  • Patent number: 4788097
Abstract: An information recording medium including a substrate, an optional intermediate layer arranged on the substrate, and a recording layer arranged on the intermediate layer on the substrate, the recording layer including a low melting metal selected from the group consisting of In, Te, Sn, Pb and Bi and a metal compound selected from a metal sulfide, a metal fluoride and a metal oxide. The recording layer further contains a metal having a high surface tension of not less than 600 dyne/cm within temperatures from its melting point to a temperature higher than the melting point by 300.degree. C., the concentrations of the metal varying along the depth direction of the recording layer in such manner that the concentration of the metal on the side facing the substrate is higher than that of the metal on the opposite side where the metal on the side facing the substrate may be in the form of islands.

  • Patent number: 4775566
Abstract: The present invention discloses a glass covered electrical insulation having an inner lining of glass fibers coated with a flexible, high temperature, electrically insulating silicon polymer, the electrically insulating layer then has a second layer of glass fibers overbraided on it and bonded to it by the use of a heat treating process. A further teaching is the method of making the flexible sleeving and a method of use. The sleeving is particularly adapted for use in VPI processing and has superior flexibility as well as higher temperature capabilities than sleeving of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4671983
Abstract: A repeating arrangement of embossments for roll material includes a first array of projections generally regularly spaced from one another and a second array of projections superimposed on the first array of projections with each projection of the second array extending longitudinally between two projections of the first array so as to minimize nesting of adjacent layers of material.
