  • Patent number: 4716268
Abstract: An arrangement for bimetallic contacts, especially bimetallic welded contacts, in which wires of metals having different conductivity, e.g. silver and iron, are butt-welded with one another by electrical resistance welding without noticeable deformation of the connecting point. The wires are then sheared off at both sides of the connecting point. The bimetallic pins are formed by cold-pressing to the final bimetallic contacts whose head cross-sections are larger than the possibly different cross-sections of the wires for the manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4482799
Abstract: An evaporation heater having a wire wound into a coil and a support wire which extends from one arm of the wire outside of the coil, in spaced proximity therewith, to a central position within the coil but out of electric contact therewith is disclosed. An annular pellet of evaporant material is positioned over the wire support arm within the heater coil but out of contact therewith. The atmosphere around the heater coil and pellet is substantially evacuated and current is directed through such coil to apply radiant heat to the pellet to evaporate same.Because the heater coil is in spaced proximity with the pellet of evaporant material and not in contact therewith, chemical reaction therebetween or erosion is avoided, and a durable evaporation heater of uncomplex construction is provided.

  • Patent number: 4480167
Abstract: Electrodes for use in electric resistance welding and a method of making such electrodes are disclosed. The electrodes are each shaped to define a tip surface for contact with a workpiece during welding. In one embodiment, each electrode comprises an electrode body of copper and a layer of titanium carbide on the body defining said tip surface. The titanium carbide layer is fused to the electrode body by a spark-fusion technique and forms a unitary electrode with the body. This form of electrode has been found advantageous in terms of minimizing "pick-up" of workpiece material during welding, and distortion of the electrode.

  • Patent number: 4476368
Abstract: A metal tube wall disintegrator is convertible in being able to disintegrate an arcuate or annular portion on the inner wall of the metal tube or to disintegrate merely one longitudinally extending portion on the inner wall of the tube. In the arcuate disintegrating mode, the disintegrator uses an electrode which is rotated at the end of a flexible cable inside the tube at a selected longitudinal position to be able to disintegrate or cut partially or completely through the tube wall. A first drive means rotates the flexible cable and electrode, and a second drive means rotates an outer tubular sheath of the flexible cable. This tubular sheath rotates a guide tip at the forward end of the outer sheath and the guide tip has a radially elongated, eccentric slot through which the electrode shaft extends. This permits a slow rotation of the eccentric slot so that the electrode disintegrator arc moves in an arcuate path around the inner tube wall.

  • Patent number: 4471192
Abstract: A microwave heating apparatus of a dielectric heating system used in combination with a radiant heat source.A leakage waveguide group is formed by arranging a number of leakage waveguides, each having at least in one side surface thereof an electric wave radiation opening which may be in the form of a long slit; and the same is closed at each electric wave radiation opening thereof with heat resistant non-metal material such as Teflon, glass or the like and is arranged so that a heating medium such as hot air, steam or the like may be passed therethrough.According to this construction, as compared with a conventional microwave heating apparatus of this kind, the heating energy is more sufficiently consumed in an object to be heated, so that the heating speed can be improved and the available space in the heating chamber can be enlarged.

  • Patent number: 4467164
Abstract: An infrared radiation detector is provided for receiving an infrared radiation emitted from a material being cooked placed in a cooking chamber in a microwave oven. The microwave oven is provided with a keyboard, a digital display and a microcomputer, such that when a temperature operation mode is set by entry from the keyboard the set temperature data is stored in a memory. In the temperature operation mode, the temperature of the material being cooked is detected in terms of a voltage associated with the output from the infrared radiation detector and a magnetron of the microwave oven is energized until the above described detected voltage becomes equal to the set temperature data and the magnetron is deenergized when both coincide with each other. In the temperature operation mode the temperature of the material being cooked is displayed by the digital display.

  • Patent number: 4465919
Abstract: The present apparatus for trimming the edges and for cutting holes into three-dimensional hollow work pieces comprises few components and may be easily modified or retooled for use on molded work pieces of different shapes and sizes. For this purpose, the apparatus comprises a support mold 1 having a shape complementary to the shape of the work piece. The support mold is exchangeable and receives or holds the work piece in a form locking manner. The support mold comprises slots 4 or apertures 6 located where the trimming or cutting is to take place in the work piece. A laser cutting device 20 is arranged for cooperation with the support mold 1 in such a way that a relative motion may be performed between the laser cutting device and the support mold. Thus, the cutting laser beam is effective along the slots and along the edges of an aperture.
