  • Patent number: 4352421
Abstract: An arrangement for the oriented feeding out of caps provided with pull-lugs comprises a disc which rotates at high speed, and onto the planar working surface of which the caps are dropped. By the rotation of the disc the caps are moved to the periphery of the disc where they contact a guide rail in the form of an uninterrupted ring which is arranged at such a distance above the surface of the disc that the cap is allowed to project beneath the guide rail. However, the lug on the cap prevents the cap from wholly passing under the guide rail. At a point along the ring periphery a radially movable feeding out element is provided which engages the passing caps and withdraws them via the space between the disc and the guide rail, with a short-time deformation of the pull-lug.

  • Patent number: 4293064
Abstract: A conveyor system for transporting articles through a generally planar conveying zone. The system includes a coacting pair of endless drive chains that are moved in unison through the conveying zone. Rollers are equally spaced along the length of each chain with the rollers in one row being axially aligned with the rollers in the second row along common axes of rotation that are perpendicular to the direction of motion of the chains. Light weight hollow cylinders are seated on top of the chain with the cylinders resting in contact with two adjacent rollers in each row. A guide means extends along the chains's path of travel from the end of the conveying zone to the start thereof and serves to hold the cylinders in contact with the rollers as the chains are being returned to the start of the conveying zone. Actuating means are also provided to impart a prescribed motion to the cylinders while they are in the conveying zone for further controlling the speed of an article passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4273235
Abstract: An assembly in the nature of a plurality of associated conveyors for selectively transferring a supply of articles for example, bottles, from one station to another. A pair of coacting and spaced rollers are constructed and arranged in the assembly to transfer the articles one by one from one of the conveyors to another; the arrangement being such that each article is temporarily retained or detained between the rollers and out of contact with the first conveyor enroute to the second conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4252232
Abstract: An article handling system for cans and the like, wherein improved means are employed for selectively isolating individual cans from a substantially continuously recirculating mass or plurality of cans and for, therafter, transferring the isolated cans in single file fashion away from said recirculating mass of cans to a discharge station located somewhat remote from the recirculating mass of cans in such a fashion as to avoid adverse interference with the normal movements of the recirculating mass of cans. The single file movement of the isolated cans is then continued as the isolated cans are individually transferred from the discharge station to a further location.

  • Patent number: 4251179
Abstract: A hoisting device particularly suitable for lifting handicapped persons with or without wheelchairs, into a vehicle. The lift can be installed into the door well of a public transit bus or of a railroad car. It could also be incorporated into a step structure inside a building. The lift platform is made of four hinged, parallel sections which in the stowed position of the lift fold back to form two steps. The first parallel section which in the uppermost position of the platform meets the vehicle floor, or the upper step landing in a building, rotates along its forward edge to form the back of the upper step in the stowed position. The second section becomes the tread of the upper step while the third section forms the riser between the upper and lower step.

  • Patent number: 4247000
Abstract: A composite metal end cap for use with a ceramic roll in a ceramic roll conveyor for conveying glass sheets for thermal treatment comprising a flexible metal inner end cap member adapted for mounting in direct contact over an end of the ceramic roll and a rigid metal outer end cap member adapted for mounting over the inner end cap member, and means for moving said outer end cap member axially relative to said inner end cap member so as to increase radial clamping of said flexible metal inner end cap member against said ceramic roll on axially inward motion of said rigid, outer end cap member relative thereto in a controlled manner and to permit release of said flexible radial clamping between said flexible, metal, inner end cap member and said ceramic roll in response to an opposite direction of axial movement of said rigid, metal, outer end cap member.

  • Patent number: 4245834
Abstract: A print receiving tray is provided for receiving and stacking in register prints of various predetermined lengths issuing from a copying machine. The tray comprises a fixed support secured to the copying machine and a movable support pivotally mounted on the fixed support. The movable support is positionable among a first, an intermediate and an extended position for conditioning the tray for receiving prints of uniform predetermined lengths at each of the positions differing from the uniform predetermined length of the prints at each of the other positions. Releasable retaining means is provided for holding the movable support in the extended position and for releasing the movable support for movement to either the intermediate or the first position. The movable support also includes register means for aligning a lead end of each print received by the receiving tray.

  • Patent number: 4245736
Abstract: An L-shaped device constituting a side or barrier plate for attachment to the side wall of the channel section or pan of a longwall scraper-chain conveyor has connectors at the end regions of a main plate-like body beneath a welded-on upper flange. The connectors have an interengageable projection and recess and possess bores extending parallel to the main plate for receiving fixing bolts. A row of non-circular shaped apertures is provided in the main body and is aligned with the connectors. The row of apertures receive bolts used to secure the device to the channel section or pan. A pair of upstanding webs is fixed to the main body beneath the flange and serve to receive a mounting pin for mounting a guide or shifting ram for example.

  • Patent number: 4202436
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for use in combination with a supporting surface for handling a plurality of articles segregated into separate groups with each group having the articles thereof arranged in a predetermined pattern. The apparatus includes an upright framework having an infeed section and a discharge section. The sections are adapted to be disposed adjacent spaced peripheral segments of the surface. Each group is successively positioned initially at a station disposed at the infeed section. A plurality of frame elements are movably carried on the framework and are actuated by a first means in a timed sequence so that a frame element is moved into an encompassing relation with a group of articles disposed at the station. The group and encompassing frame element are moved as a unit by a second means from the station across the surface to the discharge section.
