  • Patent number: 9294565
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for providing efficient synchronized data access. A request to access data on a first data provider is received. The requested data on the first data provider is synchronized with a second data provider, such that the first and second data providers respectively comprise a same version of the requested data. A provider score can respectively be determined for the first data provider and for the second data provider, where the provider score utilizes heuristic data that may indicate a data access rate and/or a cost of data access, for the respective first data provider and second data provider. The request for data access can be routed to the data provider that comprises a desired provider score, where a desired provider score may indicate a desired rate of data access and/or cost of data access.

  • Patent number: 9253703
Abstract: Various embodiments are described for considering the congestion level of an inter-base-station link during handoff of a mobile station. In one embodiment, the source and target base stations are communicatively linked via (i) a backhaul link on which a backhaul-network entity resides and (ii) an inter-base-station link on which the backhaul-network entity does not reside. A congestion level of the inter-base-station link is determined. Furthermore, a determination is made to hand off the mobile station from the source base station to the target base station. The mobile station is handed off using the backhaul link and not the inter-base-station link if the determined congestion level of the inter-base-station link exceeds a congestion threshold.

  • Patent number: 9246828
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing traffic-aware sampling rate adjustment within network devices. As inbound packets are received at an interface, a sampling unit of a forwarding circuit of the network device samples the inbound packets at a current sampling rate and directs a subset of the inbound packets to a service card of the network device. A flow controller within the service card of the network device processes the subset of the inbound packets to generate flow records. When changes in the rate at which the inbound packets are received exceed a defined threshold, the flow controller adjusts the current sampling rate at which the forwarding circuit samples the inbound packets received at the interface. Moreover, the flow controller adaptively adjusts the sampling rate such that the flow sampling resources the device are being utilized in accordance with the utilization thresholds.

  • Patent number: 9197333
Abstract: During connection establishment, an access network and/or an access terminal may decide whether to transmit bearer-traffic data rather than null-traffic data based on a channel quality of a wireless link. For example, if the access network has forward bearer-traffic data ready for transmission to the access terminal during connection establishment, the access network may decide to transmit that forward bearer-traffic data rather than forward null-traffic data in response to determining that a forward-channel quality of the wireless link is sufficient to carry such data. As another example, if the access terminal has reverse bearer-traffic data ready for transmission to the access network during connection establishment, the access terminal may decide to transmit that reverse bearer-traffic data rather than reverse null-traffic data in response to determining that a reverse-channel quality of the wireless link is sufficient to carry such data.

  • Patent number: 9173196
Abstract: A system and method is provided for dynamically self-allocating channel access for communication between communicating entities in an inter-vehicle ad hoc network. A respective entity observes communication activity over each inter-vehicle ad hoc network communication channel. Available time slots are identified within each communication channel for the respective entity to broadcast a data packet in response to the observed communication activity on a respective channel. An available communication channel and timeslot are selected to broadcast the data packet. A message is broadcast within the inter-vehicle ad hoc network that provides a schedule identifying the communication channel and time slot selected for broadcasting the data packet by the respective entity. The data packet is broadcast over the selected communication channel at the respective timeslot.

  • Patent number: 9167606
Abstract: A network connection control method and apparatus of a mobile terminal maintains or releases connection to a wireless network based on the existence of downlink traffic from the wireless network. The method preferably includes connecting to a wireless network transmitting a signal greater than a predetermined value in strength when an Internet access request is detected; requesting the connected wireless network for traffic; determining whether the traffic is received from the connected wireless network; and releasing the connection to the wireless network by determining the wireless network as an idle wireless network when no traffic is received. The determination as to whether to maintain or release the connection to the currently connected WLAN based on whether actual traffic is received from the WLAN. When the mobile terminal is connected to an Access Point not coupled to the Internet, the mobile terminal immediately switches the connection to a cellular network.

  • Patent number: 9094981
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method, system and device for processing the release failure of a PDN. The method includes: a UE, when the UE determines that it currently connects with at least two PDNs, sends a PDN release request message to an EPC and then receives a release rejection message from the EPC, wherein a rejection reason is that the last PDN connection is not allowed to be released; and the UE releases each PDN connection with the EPC and then resets up a PDN connection with the EPC. Through the technical solution, the PDN connection information of the UE and that of the EPC are kept consistent, so that resources are saved and the reliability of data transmission is improved.

  • Patent number: 9058333
Abstract: Techniques related to publishable metadata for content management are described that enable selective invocation of new components in a web content management system. Metadata that is published in connection with corresponding content can be configured to include tags or other identifiers that cause a content management system to selectively direct content processing between existing and new components. Switches implemented by the content management system can operate to examine the metadata to determine which processing components are selected for particular content and direct the content to corresponding components. Switches can also be placed in websites to direct page requests from clients to existing or new rendering controls based upon publishable metadata that is associated with a requested page. Thus, the metadata and switches can be employed to perform testing of and load balancing between new and existing components in a live environment.
