  • Patent number: 9123076
Abstract: The present technology is related to employing a template/macro-based order entry system. An initial order data message contains a macro that establishes the initial parameters for an order and a unique ID is associated with the template. Subsequent, and potentially smaller sized data messages contain the unique ID as well as relevant order details for placing an order. Of course, the technology described herein envisions a much broader concept of reducing message sizes to help improve overall latency and is not limited to order entry.

  • Patent number: 8977567
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for processing payment transactions that are conducted using a mobile device that includes a contactless element, such as an integrated circuit chip. An account holder is enabled to generate transaction related data and append that data to a transaction record or transaction identifier. The appended data and transaction record or identifier may be stored in the mobile payment device and/or provided to an Issuer. If provided to an Issuer, the transaction related data generated by the account holder may be used to supplement an account statement. The additional information generated by the account holder may be used to assist the account holder in determining if a transaction is valid by providing information that helps the account holder to recall the location or other aspect of the transaction.

  • Patent number: 8868460
Abstract: An electronic trading system is configured to create speculative orders based on real orders. The speculative order differs from the real order by the price, quantity, or the type of financial instrument. The match engine chooses one or more speculative orders in an attempt to predict the next real order. Even though processing multiple trades at the same time is impossible, the use of speculative orders can permit the match engine to perform the calculations involved with the trade and generate the messages associated with the trade ahead of time. If the prediction was correct and the next order received by the match engine corresponds to one of the speculative orders, some of the matching activity has already been performed. This in effect, allows the match engine to process trades more efficiently and increases the total trading volume that can be handled by the electronic trading system.

  • Patent number: 8825548
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein to allow a party to a multiple-party transaction to perform authentications using identification information received from another party while allowing the party generating the identification information to maintain confidentiality of information. A user may enter an access code to identify the user to a first party that will be generating identification information to a second party in the transaction. The access code may be entered without requiring the entry of an alphanumeric PIN (Personal Identification Number). The first party may convert the access code to a second code for transmission to the second party so that the access code is not revealed to the second party. The second party may use the second code to authenticate the user, to authenticate a payment transaction or other types of communications from the user or the first party. Thus, parties in a multiple-party transaction may perform authentications while maintaining the confidentiality of information.

  • Patent number: 8812397
Abstract: The invention includes a system and process that employs contractual bargaining with agent-based computational methods for the dynamic allocation, optimization, and pricing of contingent rights and obligations between multiple counterparties with overlapping interests. The processes employ a dynamic and endogenous hierarchy or tiering of binding incentive compatible contingent strategies, which may include optimal liquidation policies for matched assets and liabilities based upon stochastic volume/price schedule related to statistically non-stationary supply/demand elasticities and order-flow, as well as variations in market microstructure. The invention includes a dynamic open system with distributed stochastic control of strategic interactions among dynamic optimizing agents across random states, wherein the actions of any one affects the joint costs and benefits for all the agents.

As an example, a system and method can be configured for receiving, throughout a current day in real-time or near real-time, financial transaction data representative of financial transactions initiated by different entities. At multiple times throughout the day, a summarization of the financial transaction data (which has been received within a time period within the current day) is generated. The generated summarization is used to determine whether fraud has occurred with respect to a financial transaction contained in the received authorization data or with respect to a subsequently occurring financial transaction.

  • Patent number: 8719128
Abstract: The handling of accounts and account transactions are implemented using a variety of different systems and methods. According to one embodiment a computer-facilitated system is implemented for handling accounts held by a user at a financial institution and an educational institution. A first database stores account balance information associated with a first account held at one of the institutions. A second database stores account balance information associated with a second account held at the other institution. Logic, located at one institution, encrypts an identifier of the first account, associates a resulting encrypted identifier with the second account and decrypts the encrypted identifier. A database interface transmits the encrypted identifier to the second database for storage. A user interface provides the user with the account balance information associated with the accounts in response to the logic decrypting the encrypted identifier.
