Abstract: A system and method for capturing logged data from proximal equipment onto a form. A form creation application determines equipment in proximity to a portable computing device, receives a selection of a piece of equipment from a user, extracts logged data from the piece of equipment that is selected, determines a form with a structure to fill in with the logged data, parses the logged data and fills in at least one field in the form, generates graphical data for displaying the form to the user, provides the form to the user, receives input on the form from the user and stores the form and the input received on the form.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for delivering customized versions of web pages to users. In one implementation, a method is provided for customizing a delivered version of a web page to reflect a current time-of-day at a geographic location of the user. According to the method, a request for a web page is received from a client device of the user. The request for the web page includes an IP address of the client device. Based on the IP address, a current time is determined for the received request. Thereafter, a version of the requested web page corresponding to the current time is generated, and the generated version of the requested web page is delivered to the client device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling an electronic spreadsheet on a handheld touch device, comprising an operation procedure, a display procedure and a recovery procedure. The operation procedure comprises: receiving a selection touch control signal for selecting cells, determining selected cells in an electronic spreadsheet according to the selection touch control signal, calculating according to a preset processing method, and storing the calculation result. The display procedure comprises: receiving a first touch control signal for controlling movement of an electronic spreadsheet from an initial position of the electronic spreadsheet to an interim position, moving the electronic spreadsheet from the initial position of the electronic spreadsheet to the interim position according to the first touch control signal to expose a blank area, querying whether the calculation result exists or not, and if yes, displaying the calculation result in the blank area.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for converting presentations between differing slide dimensions and aspect ratios. During dimensional conversion of a slide, foreground objects placed on the slide by a user are dimensionally scaled and repositioned on the slide based on a change in the overall dimensions of the slide, while background objects on the slide originating from a slide master associated with the slide are replaced with corresponding background objects from a new template associated with the new aspect ratio of the slide. Any content and/or properties of the old background objects on the slide are copied to the corresponding background objects on the dimensionally converted slide.

Abstract: The present embodiments are directed to systems and methods of creating and deploying electronic forms for collecting information from a user using a browser or other application. Various embodiments herein include features for automatically selecting and configuring services for rendering and submitting intelligent forms or other data structures in an automated process environment. The automated process environment may include features which permit an enterprise to blend electronic forms, process management, document security, and document generation capabilities to deliver applications which may reduce paperwork, accelerate decision-making processes, and help ensure regulatory compliance.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and apparatus for preserving fidelity of bounded rich text appearance, by maintaining reflow, when converting between interactive and flat documents across different environments. The method comprises receiving an image, text data, and formatting metadata corresponding to text entered on a webpage; and processing the text data, wherein processing includes using the image and formatting metadata, evaluating a count of characters corresponding to a line of entered text to identify a location in the image for insertion of a newline character; and inserting the newline character at a location identified during the evaluating.

Abstract: A method, a computer program product and a system identify partition locations within an extended markup language (XML) document without parsing so as to process portions of said document in parallel. The XML document includes sections required to remain continuous. The document is scanned for continuous sections without parsing, and boundaries of the initial partitions are adjusted to reside outside the continuous sections to determine resulting partitions for the document. The resulting partitions may be processed in parallel to provide the document information for storage.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for converting presentations between differing slide dimensions and aspect ratios. A scaling factor is calculated from the difference between the original dimensions of the slide and the new dimensions of the converted slide. Next, the content objects on the slide are scaled based on the scaling factor such that the aspect ratio of the content object is maintained. Finally, the content objects are repositioned on the slide in order to maintain a relative distance between the position of the content object and the center of the slide.

Abstract: Computer-readable media stores instructions that perform operations including receiving a first electronic document; determining a first information gain value associated with a first line that divides the first electronic document into a first portion and a second portion; determining a second information gain value associated with a second line that divides the first electronic document into a third portion and a fourth portion; and determining which of the first information gain value and second information gain value is greater. Information gain values are determined by calculating a difference between an entropy value associated with a line and an entropy value associated with an electronic document. Entropy values associated lines or electronic documents are determined based at least in part on document objects in the portions created by a line or an electronic document.

Abstract: Content may be stored as structured language data that may be separated into a formatting skeleton (skeleton) and fragments. The skeleton may be extracted from the structured language data to retain at least a portion of the formatting information of a structured language data. The fragments may be segments of presentation data from the structured language data and may be mapped to a location within the skeleton. Upon rendering, a client device may only have to load the skeleton and one or more fragments associated with a specified viewing location in order to quickly and accurately render a portion of the content. By rendering only some of the fragments of the structured language data, the client device may minimize user-perceived latency during processing and rendering operations.

Abstract: A method for intelligently handling abbreviations in text-based electronic communications can begin with the compilation of abbreviation usage history data by an intelligent abbreviation handler component of a text-based electronic communications system. The abbreviation usage history data can indicate a presentation preference for abbreviation elements based upon past usage by the user. An abbreviation element can be an abbreviation, an acronym, or an initialism. The abbreviation element can be presented in a condensed format or an expanded format. Abbreviation elements can be identified in a received text-based electronic communication. The presentation preference of each identified abbreviation element can be intelligently determined for each recipient from the abbreviation usage history data. An abbreviation-adjusted text-based electronic communication can be created for each recipient using the received text-based electronic communication and the determined presentation preference.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of converting data of a database and creating an XML document. In the method, a source XML document has user-defined tags is designed. The source XML document is separated into an XML document for normal data conversion which is used when converting normal data, and an XML document for repetitive data conversion which is used when converting repetitive data. An SQL query statement for data to be converted in a DB is generated. The SQL query statement is executed on the DB and thereafter resulting data obtained as a result of executing the SQL query statement is stored in a storage sheet. The structural data of the source XML document is mapped to the resulting data stored in the storage sheet. A new XML document is created by replacing the structural data of the source XML document with the resulting data.

Abstract: A declarative mechanism is used to manage large documents within a repository. The large documents are sectioned into subdocuments that are linked together by a parent document. The combination of the parent document and subdocument is referred to as a compound document. There are multiple options for configuring rules to break up a source document into a compound document and naming the subdocuments. The compound documents may be queried using statements that treat the compound document as a single XML document, or the parent document of a subdocument may be queried and treated independently. Access control and versioning can be applied at the finer granularity of the subdocument.

Abstract: Embodiments prepare a markup language (ML) element for animation. A request to perform at least one animation on at least one ML element is intercepted or received. One or more animation preparation attribute values are defined based at least on the requested animation and current attribute values of the ML element. The ML element is altered to include the defined animation preparation attribute values, and an animation engine performs the animation of the altered ML element. The animation preparation attributes and values (e.g., style elements) may be reset, removed, or otherwise modified after animation. In some embodiments, a library of application programming interfaces (APIs) enable web browsers to request animations of legacy hypertext markup language (HTML) elements for consumption by animation engines based on JAVASCRIPT scripting or cascading style sheets (CSS).

Abstract: A method and mobile communications device for retrieving and presenting partial skipped content are provided. A display of a mobile communication device provides content of a first segment and a further segment of an electronic document received at the mobile communication device. Content between the first segment and the further segment is skipped content which has not been received. On the display, an indication of the skipped content is provided, the indication including a selectable client control for retrieving at least a portion of the skipped content.

Abstract: A method for use with an electronic reading device comprising automatically fetching electronic media content and automatically and dynamically sequencing portions of the electronic media content for display on an electronic reading device. Optionally, the electronic media content can be automatically and dynamically divided into the portions that are then sequenced. Optionally, the electronic media content can be re-sequenced to reflect user preferences and needs. Various methods for recognizing and altering the display of the electronic reading device quickly and efficiently are disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for generating electronic albums efficiently by selecting templates matching images to be laid out. Evaluation values for one or more evaluation items representing evaluations of images are set for each image. The images are grouped into a plurality of groups according to images having common evaluation values for one or more evaluation items. For each group, one or more templates are selected into which images included in each group are to be inserted, where the one or more templates are selected based on the common evaluation values of the images included in a group. A plurality of laid out images are generated and the images in each group are arranged within image regions of the selected templates based on attribute data of the image regions and the evaluation values of images in the group. An electronic album is generated as a combination of the laid out images.
