  • Patent number: 4822094
Abstract: A seat suspension mechanism providing a vertical range of cushion travel to a tractor seat when fluid is supplied to the mechanism. The suspension mechanism includes a linkage assembly movable through a predetermined path of travel for securing the seat to the frame and a damper assembly operable in combination with the linkage assembly for regulating the cushion travel of the seat. The present invention further includes an automatic seat stop mechanism connectable to the suspension mechanism for limiting the movement of the linkage assembly and the seat upon cessation or interruption of fluid flow to the seat suspension mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4819981
Abstract: A cap is provided for disposition over the load bed of a pickup truck and includes opposite side wall structures having lower marginal portions for close juxtaposed position relative to upper marginal portions of the side walls of the load bed. Each side wall structure and the corresponding side wall include longitudinally spaced vertically separable mounting portions supporting the side wall structure from the side wall for angular displacement relative thereto about an axis extending along the lower marginal portion of that side wall structure. In addition, each pair of mounting portions includes support and guide means interconnecting therebetween operative to guide the corresponding side wall structure relative to the corresponding side wall for up and down movement relative thereto between a lowered position juxtaposed position the side wall and an upper limit position, the support and guide structure including spring means yieldingly biasing the side wall structure toward its upper limit position.

  • Patent number: 4813842
Abstract: Tailgate apparatus for a pick-up truck comprising a frame assembly adapted to be mounted around the preexisting bumper of a vehicle after removal of the conventional tail gate. The assembly does not require removal of the truck bumper and maintains the visibility of the license plate. Lifting and raising of the tail gate is provided by spool wound flexible straps on each side powered by a geared motor. A drive shaft under the platform interconnecting the side housings is driven by the motor rotating a first spool in one of the housings so that the spools rotate together. The apparatus is light weight and reliable in operation.

  • Patent number: 4811981
Abstract: A vehicle glove compartment organizer characterized by a body in the form of two shelf portions slidable with respect to each other for accommodating differences in width and/or the use of space in the glove compartment. The top of the shelf portions of the organizer may be spaced from the top of the glove compartment to provide a storage area together with storage compartments presented by each of the shelf portions. The support wall for each of the shelf portions tapers downwardly and rearwardly so that the aforesaid storage area and storage compartments are inclined to prevent unwanted forward storage item movement, where the storage items could include a tire gauge, pens, pencils, and the like, in addition to flat items, such as maps.

  • Patent number: 4810027
Abstract: A trailer body construction including side panels, a roof and floor. The upper ends of the side panels and roof are supported by a top rail and the lower ends of the side panels and floor are supported by a frame assembly. The top rail includes a horizontal leg having a wing member extending from the horizontal leg end and a substantially vertical leg having a ledge extending therefrom. The side panels comprise a plurality of vertical side plates having substantially abutting edges, a plurality of side laps respectively covering each pair of side plates, and a plurality of side posts overlying the side laps and plates. The side posts include flange portions that abut the side laps to form box-like side posts.

  • Patent number: 4810015
Abstract: An apparatus for protecting the side of a vehicle including a resilient foam rubber pad of a length substantially longer than the width of most conventional vehicle doors has a cloth cover around it and a plurality of magnets are attached along the top and bottom border of such cloth cover so that the device can easily and simply be attached to the side of a vehicle by merely placing it in the desired position and allowing the magnets to hold it in such position. A plurality of elastic loops are attached to the ends of the cloth cover for alternatively either attachment to a hook in the wheelwell or for holding the protection apparatus in a rolled up storage condition.

  • Patent number: 4810028
Abstract: A vehicle having a frame designed to reduce the damage caused by collisions between vehicles. The design of the frame has a cone shaped front and rear, with the point of the cone low to the ground to get under and lift the other vehicle in the event the front or rear of the vehicle makes contact with a conventional vehicle. If two vehicles of this design meet front to front or front to rear, the cone shape promotes glancability so the vehicles will glance off of one another rather that smash each other. The design of this vehicle includes an oval cross section, therefore if a conventional vehicle hits the side of the invention it will hit on the curved part of the side of the vehicle at the main chassis beam which is very strong. The curved part of the frame will promote the vehicle being pushed up tending to roll it over thus absorbing part of the impact as the conventional vehicle tends to have its front end pushed into the ground by being under the curved part of the inventions frame.

  • Patent number: 4807922
Abstract: A high impact car cover is set forth for use in protecting an automobile housed by the instant invention. An outer vinyl-like covering is laminated to an impact absorbing padding of a thickness in a range of three to five times the thickness of the outer covering and sandwiching the foam-like padding is an underlying vinyl-like flexible covering to provide a high impact automotive covering. A further embodiment of the invention entails the zippered sectioning of the high impact car cover to enable replacement of damaged panels.

  • Patent number: 4805954
Abstract: A clamping apparatus for releasably securing a wheelchair to a base, such as the floor of a motor vehicle, is provided. The clamping apparatus includes a frame which is capable of being rigidly secured to the base and a movable clamp which is pivotally attached to the frame and capable of being moved between a wheelchair clamping position and a wheelchair release position. When in the clamping position, the clamp is capable of secure engagement with the wheelchair to prevent relative movement between the wheelchair and the base. When in the release position, the clamp disengages from the wheelchair, thereby permitting relative movement between the wheelchair and the base. Power driven actuating means for moving the clamp between the clamping and release positions is provided.

  • Patent number: 4805957
Abstract: A flexible arm rest for an automobile window sill which is attached by magnets to the outside of the automobile, hangs over the sill, and is urged downward within the automobile by weights. The magnets exert a force on the arm rest which exceeds the force by the weights, with the consequence that raising the window causes the inside edge to move upward until the arm rest is captured between the window and the window jam, in which configuration the arm rest functions as a sunscreen or sunshade.

  • Patent number: 4796942
Abstract: A fastener especially adapted for securing a liner in a pickup truck cargo box and having a bolster at the upper ends of its walls provided with flanges at its inner edge. The fastener comprises a rotatable bolt having a head at one end and an anchor member at its other end through which the bolt threadedly extends. The anchor member may be rotated with the bolt but is of such length as to engage the lower surface of the bolster after limited rotation, thereby enabling continued rotation of the bolt to cause the liner to be clamped between the bolt head, the bolster flange, and the anchor member. The construction is such that securing of a liner in a cargo box requires no openings to be formed in the walls of the cargo box.
