  • Patent number: 10514241
Abstract: A missile or other flight vehicle has a stage separation mechanism for separating a downstream stage from an upstream portion of the missile. The mechanism includes one or more holes in fluid communication with a cavity between the upstream and downstream portions of the missile. The holes are located downstream of one or more shocks produced by one or more local variations in the outer surface shape of the missile. The one or more local variations in outer surface shapes produce the one or more shocks as the missile is flown at supersonic speeds. These shock(s) produce downstream pressure rises, and these pressure increases are communicated to the cavity by the hole(s). The increased pressure in the cavity provides a mechanism for separating the downstream stage from the upstream portion of the missile, after release of a mechanical coupling between the upstream portion and downstream stage.

  • Patent number: 10480900
Abstract: An electronic indicator on a see-through optical scope indicates whether an optical system is canted. The indicator may include illuminable visual indicators positioned on opposite sides of a field of view through the optical scope. The indicator may be visual, haptic, or aural. The visual indicator may include one or more LEDs positioned on the periphery of the field of view, and may be optically coupled to an appropriate position on the face of the reticle using a suitable waveguide. The LEDs are coupled to a microprocessor which is, in turn, coupled to a solid-state electronic inclinometer that is incorporated into the internal structure of the optical system. The microprocessor is configured to selectively illuminate one or more of the visual indicators based on the output of the inclinometer, thereby indicating how the reticle is canted, if at all.

  • Patent number: 10466004
Abstract: A firearm compensator, to be affixed to the muzzle of a gun for reducing at least one of flash and recoil, utilizes a vectored flow nozzle, an expansion chamber containing a prominent thrust surface and flow-directing structures below the barrels center line, and flash-hiding ports. A compression ramp containing dimple-like structures connects the bottom of the gun muzzle to the bottom of the prominent thrust surface. Upon firing the gun, gasses depart from their linear trajectory as they flow past the vectored flow nozzle, flow diagonally downward past a dimpled compression ramp in the expansion chamber, and strike the thrust surface. A plurality of substantially horizontal elongated ports in the expansion chamber aids in flash suppression.

  • Patent number: 10466000
Abstract: A gas flow volume control apparatus for firearm that includes an adjustable gas block, an adjustment member, and a securing member. The adjustable gas block efficiently redirects a flow of high-pressure gas from inside the gun barrel of the firearm into the gas tube of the firearm drive the gas-operated reloading mechanism of the firearm. The adjustable gas block that includes a gas-flow channel, a gas-tube channel, a flow-adjustment channel is adjacently connected to the securing member. The gas-flow channel collects high-pressure gas from the gun barrel and discharges into the gas-tube channel through the flow-adjustment channel as all three channels are in fluid communication with each other within the adjustable gas block. The adjustment member allows a user selectively controls the amount of high-pressure gas that is collected within the flow-adjustment channel.

  • Patent number: 10458768
Abstract: A protection covering for folded tail fins of a projectile. The protection covering is installed to surround outer portion of the folded tail fins of the projectile and protects the tail fins against external high pressure, whereby the tail fins are not damaged even at high pressure generated in a launching process of the projectile. After the launch of the projectile, the protection covering is separated from the projectile by the pressure applied on the inner side surface of the circular plate portion of the protection covering by the accumulated combustion gas inside the air pocket. The protection covering is automatically separated from the projectile without providing any other mechanical structure immediately after the launch of the projectile, thereby providing an effect to allow the tail fins to be deployed quickly and economically.
