  • Patent number: 11963903
Abstract: Apparatus for reducing obstructive sleep apnea, snoring and/or nasal drainage, or improving sleep quality. One apparatus includes an upper member fitting portions of the interior and exterior surfaces of a user's upper dentition, and a lower member fitting similarly adjacent a user's lower dentition. The upper and lower members include molar and pre-molar extensions so that when the user bites or clenches, the upper right and lower right extensions impinge on one another in substantially overlapping fashion, as do the upper left and lower left extensions. The upper member includes a palate extension that extends posteriorly from the upper member in the region of the upper incisors, which introduces a tongue resting spot to compensate for the lowering of the mandible and restoring the proper tongue posture while sleeping. The oral devices may be produced by additive or subtractive manufacturing methods.

  • Patent number: 11963899
Abstract: A formable cast (100), brace (180) or splint is provided herein which comprises a padding (101), an outer shell (103) spaced apart from the padding, and a ridge (109) disposed along the perimeter of the shell. The ridge, shell and padding define an interior space (115), with a curable polymeric material disposed in the interior space. The curable polymeric material undergoes a phase transition, upon curing, from a liquid or gel phase to a substantially rigid solid phase. The cast (100), brace (180) or splint may be readily customized to the patient by fitting the cast to the patient's body, positioning the cast in the desired orientation, and curing the curable polymeric material through exposure to actinic radiation or by other suitable means.

  • Patent number: 11951031
Abstract: An anti-snoring mouth guard for insertion into a mouth of a user for decreasing snoring and the effects of sleep apnea includes a mouthpiece portion having a bottom wall and a pair of upstanding side walls displaced and opposite one another and extending upwardly from the bottom wall, said mouthpiece having a hemispherical configuration that is complementary to a shape of the user's teeth. Collectively, the bottom wall and pair of side walls define a channel operable to receive teeth of a user's upper pallet. The anti-snoring mouth guard includes tongue depressor portion having a proximal end coupled to the mouthpiece and having a body extending rearwardly at a generally downward angle. A brace may extend between rear ends of the mouthpiece portion and define levels by which the tongue depressor may be inserted such that the tongue depressor may be adjusted vertically and front-to-back.

  • Patent number: 11937893
Abstract: Provided herein is a system and method for mitigating premature light deactivation of light deactivated adhesive drapes. One aspect provides a system comprising a drape, a photosensitive adhesive layer, a release agent, and an optical fiber mesh layer configured as a light pipe, where the system is adapted to be coupled to a tissue site and released therefrom upon or after exposure to an external stimulus such as certain wavelengths of light. Another aspect includes a pipe light pipe, as an alternative to the optical fiber mesh layer. The systems may have a removable blocking layer to prevent the photosensitive adhesive from being exposed to deactivation wavelengths prematurely. Another aspect provides a method for application and removal of a drape using the light pipe to transport or route light to the drape to deactivate the photosensitive adhesive layer and promote easy, clean, and less painful removal of the drape.

  • Patent number: 11938074
Abstract: A neck supporting exoskeleton is configured to be worn by a person to support the person's head during backward extension motions of the person's neck. The neck supporting exoskeleton may comprise a torso frame configured to be coupled to the person's torso, a head pillow configured to contact the rear portion of the person's head during backward extension motions of the person's neck, a linkage allowing for relative motion between the head pillow and the torso frame in the sagittal plane of the person, and an actuator configured to impose a supporting force onto the head pillow. When the person's neck extension angle increases beyond an engagement angle, the actuator causes the linkage to impose a supporting force onto the head pillow resisting the backward extension motion of the head pillow and the person's head relative to the torso frame thereby providing a support for the person's head.

  • Patent number: 11925430
Abstract: A sterile bag for covering medical equipment comprises: a barrier section, a flexible body section, and an attaching section. The flexible body section has a tubular shape extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof, and an outer surface, an inner surface, and an open end. The barrier section is coupled to the proximal end, and the attaching section is formed at the distal end of the flexible body section. The barrier section is a rigid or semirigid component which attaches the sterile bag to a sterile component or to an unsterile component of the medical equipment in a pleaded or folded state. The flexible body section is configured to be deployed over the unsterile component so as to enclose within the inner surface thereof the unsterile component. The unsterile component is connectable to the sterile component through the central opening of the barrier section.

One aspect provides a system comprising a drape, an adhesive layer, and a release agent, where the system is adapted to be coupled to a tissue site and released therefrom upon or after exposure to an external stimulus such as certain wavelengths of light. The system may have a photochromic layer that may transition between a blocking transmittance state and a non-blocking transmittance state to block or allow certain wavelengths of light to pass through. Some systems may use a combination of a photochromic layer and a filter layer to prevent the adhesive from being exposed to deactivation wavelengths prematurely. Another aspect provides a method for application and removal of a drape using by removing one or more of a photochromic layer and a filter layer and applying light to the drape to deactivate the adhesive layer and promote easy, clean, and less painful removal of the drape.

  • Patent number: 11903868
Abstract: An oral treatment assembly providing a plurality of medical treatments of a patient that are non-invasive and in particular provides new methods for treating jaw related medical conditions of a patient through predetermined positioning and controlled or guided movement of a patient's mandible and therefore their mandibular condyles during use, wherein the assembly includes an upper and lower assembly each defining transition portions having a reverse cut angle that extends downward from the posterior forward to the anterior, and where each are configured to selectively engage to restrict the retrusion of the mandible relative to the maxilla and to position the mandible relative to the maxilla downward and in some embodiment slightly forward in a caregiver defined treatment position and having a caregiver defined treatment movement area thereabout. Since the reversed cut angle contains two vectors it also discourages involuntary dropping of the mandible relative to the maxilla.
