  • Patent number: 7641312
Abstract: A liquid ejecting head of the present invention has a nozzle plate including a nozzle substrate composed of a non-conductive material in which nozzle openings pass through the nozzle substrate and a conductive film formed to cover at least a part of the inner peripheral wall surface of the nozzle opening. The film forming area where the conductive film is formed includes the moving range of a meniscus moving on the inner peripheral wall surface of the nozzle opening in accordance with the ejection operation of liquid drops from the nozzle opening. According to the present invention, even if a non-conductive nozzle plate is used, a charge can be injected smoothly into liquid drops without causing problems of deterioration of the image quality due to electrophoresis and of defective ejection due to foreign substances and gas generated by electrolysis.

  • Patent number: 7643678
Abstract: Xerographic machines can print documents that have unintentional streaking parallel to the process direction. There are many possible source of the streaking. Currently, the streaking is minimized by using a cross process direction dependent modulation, called a profile, to modulate a modulated light beam being scanned across the photoreceptor. The profile is purely a function of cross process direction position. The profile can minimize, and often eliminate, streaking for any one area coverage, but only for that one area coverage. Different profiles can be produced that work best for different area coverages. Choosing a profile from a group of profiles for use with each scan line can minimize parallel streaking for a wider range of area coverages.

  • Patent number: 7637591
Abstract: An ink-jet head has a plurality of nozzles formed on an ink-jetting surface, a plurality of manifolds, and a plurality of individual ink channel groups each of which includes a plurality of individual ink channels communicating with nozzles and one of the manifolds. Symmetric-centers of multiple nozzles with respect to one of the individual ink-channel groups are aligned in a predetermined direction. Further, when these nozzles are shifted on the ink-jetting surface such that the symmetric-centers are coincident with one another, then central axis points of the nozzles are mutually different in location. With this, there is provided an ink-jet head which makes it possible to print an image with high image-quality at a high speed.

  • Patent number: 7614723
Abstract: For a low saturation and high density region in a printed sheet identified based on rasterized data, flushing ejection is executed, with landing positions dispersed in the region. For a region being low in saturation but not high in density, an edge portion of the region is determined as landing positions. During these processes, adjustment is made to the ejection from inkjet nozzels for color components which are not to be subjected to the flushing ejection, to maintian the original hue of the region. This achieves the flushing ejection minimizing the degradation of the quality of the printed sheet. Further, in the variable printing, necessity of the flushing ejection is judged based on details to be printed on a base page. This causes the evacution of the flushing ejection whenever individual printed sheets are produced. Therefore, the print quality is held uniform during the production of different printed sheets.

  • Patent number: 7576763
Abstract: Reflex writing is a group of algorithms developed to maintain color registration in xerographic systems using multiple imagers, in which sequential color separations are written based on events in the spatial domain. The imaging system includes a raster output scanner imager for the black station and a light emitting diode bar for the color station. A simulated machine clock signal is generated based on a running average of a plurality of actual machine clock periods determined from pulses received from a photoreceptor module drive roll encoder. For each black scanline written the distance the belt travels is tracked using the simulated machine clock signal, and when the black latent image scanline has traveled the known distance between the two imagers, the light emitting diode scanline is written registered with respect to the raster output scanner scanline.
