  • Patent number: 7958028
Abstract: A budgetary control system limits revenue generating transactions that may be entered in an enterprise management system. When a new revenue posting is proposed to the system, various AVC rules are evaluated. The evaluation compares the revenue posting against predetermined budgetary limits. The AVC rules may address various nodes within a revenue postings data structure and within a revenue budget data structure and they may define a test relationship that must be maintained between them. If proposed revenue posting would violate the test relationship of an AVC rule, then the revenue posting may be rejected from the system depending upon the contents of a response field in the AVC rule. Some AVC rules mandate that a violation cause the proposed transaction to be blocked while others may generate a warning notification within the system but admit the new transaction despite the violation.

  • Patent number: 7933818
Abstract: An electronic catalog system includes automated processes for detecting and handling specific types of browsing events, such as non-conversion events in which users browse but fail to purchase specific items. In one embodiment, when a user engages in a threshold level of browsing activity with respect to an item without making a purchase of that item or a substitute item, and a favorable change in the item's state thereafter occurs (e.g., the price is reduced or the item becomes available), the user is automatically notified of the state change. In another embodiment, when a user transitions away from an item or item category after engaging in a threshold level of browsing activity, a determination is made whether to present to the user a time-limited purchase incentive that is tied to that item or item category.

  • Patent number: 7734537
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes determining, in respect of a loan secured by an asset, a present value of a right of a borrower of the loan to choose during a term of the loan to require an entity to pay the loan in full on the borrower's behalf in exchange for the asset, in response to at least one prediction of whether the borrower will exercise the right. The asset may include realty and the loan may include a mortgage. A further method includes granting, to a borrower of a loan secured by an asset, a right to choose during a term of the loan to require an entity to: (i) pay the loan in full on behalf of the borrower, and (ii) receive the asset in full satisfaction therefor; and receiving valuable consideration from the borrower in exchange for the granting of the right.

  • Patent number: 7720818
Abstract: A system and method for on-line management of account information by customers of a provider of goods or services. A web server receives billing information from a telecommunications service provider in a standardized XML-format readily suitable for viewing by the customers. The system further includes a tiered storage system for maintaining invoices of the customers. Recent invoices are maintained in an upper tier of the storage system where they are accessible to customers over the Internet. As the invoices age, an archival and retrieval application periodically transfers the invoices to an intermediate tier where they may only be accessed by the archival and retrieval application using an index maintained in the upper tier. Account receivable information is also available on-line through the web site.

  • Patent number: 7707102
Abstract: The risk of loss in individual collateral loans may be evaluated by taking into consideration the market supply and demand for the collateral/asset, as well as the amount of the loan balance in proportion to the value of the collateral. A Collateral Risk Index is determined using information regarding the total number of sales of the collateral/asset, the total number of pending listings, the total number of active listings, and the total number of expired listings in a time period. This information is used in conjunction with the loan balance versus the collateral/asset value to determine an index reflective of the risk of loss to the lender or investor.

  • Patent number: 7685031
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for evaluating financial information, including systems and methods with computational/evaluation capability to process data sets comprising financial data. In one of the implementations, the systems and methods may be utilized for asset accounting. A calculation module may be provided that includes an evaluation engine that operates internally on a flat, generic data structure that is independent of the particular application. The externally-defined data structure of the data set may be mapped onto the internal data structure. Further, rules-based modules may provide information related to the client-defined rules. A user interface may enable a user to receive back the evaluated financial information, for a specified time period, the financial information being responsive to an original user request entered via the user interface. As a result, the evaluation engine can be used for a variety of different applications.
