  • Patent number: 6086359
Abstract: A lighter safety system which in a first "safety on" position prevents the ignition of the lighter by blocking the depression of the lighter trigger. The simultaneous forward engagement of a safety pin with the operator's thumb and the rearward depression of the trigger by the operator's fingers (of the same hand) allows the lighter to ignite. The safety pin is pivotable about a positioning pillar in the housing. A hook on one end of switch engages on slanted slot in the trigger to prevent depression of the trigger until the pivotable switch pin is urged forward.

  • Patent number: 6074199
Abstract: The candle has a wick that contains a signal transmission means such as an optical guide or thermocouple. An electronic circuit is coupled to the transmission means so that when a light or heat signature is received by the circuit, it plays a sound stored in a memory. For example, an optical guide can be coupled to an optical switch, so that the optical signal produced by the flame will close the switch and complete a circuit. The circuit can include a storage device, such as an IC CHIP, to store a musical tune. This tune is then played when the candle is lit. When the flame is extinguished, the burnt wick along with the wavelength sensitive optical switches will prevent ambient light from activating the circuit. Likewise, if a thermocouple is used, the absence of a flame will discontiue the production of sound.

  • Patent number: 6068467
Abstract: A combustor has a pilot nozzle 02 arranged at a central portion of an inner cylinder 01 opening at its end into a combustion chamber 018 and includes a plurality of main nozzles 03 arranged around its outer circumference. Along the outer circumference of a flame holding cone 014 for igniting a fuel F injected from the main nozzles 03 there are disposed elliptical extension pipes 016 of an elliptical sectional shape which are extended from the fronts of the main nozzles 03 to have openings at the axial position of the opening of the flame holding cone 014. As a result, a hot premixed flame 013 does not flow back to a main swirler zone 015 of the circumferential edges of the openings of the main nozzles 03 so that mixing between the fuel F and an air flow A can be improved, reducing the Nox emission while eliminating the burning of a base plate 04 and the main nozzles 03.

  • Patent number: 6065467
Abstract: A combination portable gas barbecue and portable simulation fireplace includes a cooking vessel having imitation fireplace logs and a gas burner mounted on a lift-out log grate. A window is mounted in the front of the cooking vessel to allow direct viewing of the imitation logs and flames and of the underside of the food being cooked. Air inlet and outlets cause convection currents to flow away from the viewing window and out side vents formed by gaps between an oversized hood and the cooking vessel. An air convection system is set up by providing an air inlet below the window and outlet air gaps between the hood and the cooking vessel. A deflector is provided over the viewing window to prevent grease drippings from soiling the window or falling into the air inlet. A removable heat exchanger heats up air by contact with the walls of the cooking vessel and directs the resulting warm air to the front of the cooking vessel.

  • Patent number: 6059563
Abstract: A gas lighter with dual safety mechanism comprises an actuator mechanism provided between an ignition button and a gas fuel reservoir having a push means protruded from a surface of gas lighter, a first elastic member urged against actuator mechanism, a slidably mounted connecting rod on actuator mechanism, and a second elastic member put on a side of connecting rod. In operation, continuously press push means until connecting rod is aligned with ignition button and gas fuel reservoir. Then press ignition button to urge against connecting rod for pivotably rotating a pivotal member to activate a piston of gas fuel reservoir to open an outlet to discharge gas fuel which in turn flows to a tube member for igniting the gas lighter. An ignition is only made possible through activation of actuator mechanism and ignition button and thus, a mechanism for preventing inadvertent ignition of the gas lighter is obtained.
