Abstract: A vacuum system having a closed air flow loop for cleaning rugs and floor or other surfaces. There is a vacuum source having a suction side and a controlled air flow pressure side (exhaust side). A head assembly is adapted to ride on the rug or floor or other surface to be cleaned. At least one rotatable brush is positioned within the head assembly. The suction side of the vacuum source communicates with the head assembly to provide suction within the head assembly for picking up dirt or other materials. The air exhaust side of the vacuum source communicates with the head assembly. A turbine motor is positioned so that the air exhaust from the vacuum source impinges on and drives the turbine motor. The brush and the turbine motor are interconnected whereby the turbine motor drives the brush. The means interconnecting is at a right angle to the axis of rotation of the brush.
Abstract: A beverage-container carrier and sipping assembly (10) that is designed to replace the cap on a conventional bottle-type beverage container (60) or to be diretly attached to the circumferential edge (72) of a sport bottle (71) or an opened beverage can (70). The assembly (10) consists of a dome shaped cover (12,14) that has attached a carrying strap (40) and a straw bore (20) on its upper surface that to accepts a drinking straw (22). The strap can be adjusted to an optimum length to hand carry the cover or to a length that allows the assembly (10) to be placed around a person's neck or shoulders. In either case, the strap (40) is attached to the containers cover (12,14) at points that correspond to the container (60) shoulder or center-of-gravity. Therefore, the container is comfortably balanced and supported when held by the strap (40). A vertically or horizontally oriented handle (50,54) can be added to the cover (12,14) to increase the assembly utility.
Abstract: The invention relates to a bracket for holding U shaped locks onto the seat posts of bicycles in a space efficient manner. One end of the bracket uses a circular shaped post attaching means which can be tightened around differently sized seat by means of a screw. The other end has a channel with a C-shaped cross section which is deformable and can be made to fit around a portion of the U lock. The shape of the channel is at right angles to shape of the seat post attaching means and thus the U lock can be neatly positioned under the seat of a bicycle.
Abstract: A fast draw holster having an open front supports a handgun with a bore penetrating pin correlated with the caliber and with opposed sides compressively engaging the barrel. A spacer positoned forwardly of the pin prevents intermittent and non uniform pressure contact with the front lower edge of the holster upon withdrawal of the handgun. A ratchet mechanism attaching the holster to a belt supported fender permits the degree of vertical alignment of the holster to be adjusted commensurate with a shooter's preference.
Abstract: A vacuum sewer arrangement comprises a valve controlled air inlet duct to let air into the vacuum sewer at a position downstream of the sewer valve. The sewer valve can then be closed immediately after the sewage has passed into the vacuum sewer, because the air required for the sewage transport is received from the air inlet duct. Hence, the amount of air that flows into the sewer through the sewer valve when the sewer valve opens is small, and when the sewer valve is closed, air flows through the air inlet duct into the sewer, which reduces the pressure difference acting on the sewer valve. These measures tend to considerably reduce the noise level. In the case of a vacuum toilet sewer arrangement, the noise level can be further reduced by providing the toilet bowl with a lid forming a substantially airtight and soundproof closure at the top of the bowl.

Abstract: A diverter apparatus and method of saving fresh water from being wasted while one waits for the cold or lukewarm water that accumulates in a hot-water pipeline to pass therethrough before the usable hot water begins discharging from a shower fixture or from a faucet fixture. The apparatus comprises a two-way diverter valve having an inlet port and two outlet ports. The inlet port is attached to the shower or faucet discharge fixture whereby the fresh water can be diverted to one of the outlet ports which is connected to one end of a hose. The hose is interconnected between the diverter valve and a storage container so that the initial cold water passes through the hose for storage in the container until hot water is discharged whereby the cold water is prevented from being wasted down a drain. The other outlet port of the diverter valve is adapted to receive a shower-head fixture or a faucet-aerator fixture.
Abstract: A method and apparatus to aseptically dispense liquid under counterpressure into a container. In a sterilization phase that precedes the filling, the inner surfaces of a container, the container mouth, as well as an outer surface of the container adjacent to the mouth thereof, are acted upon by a hot, pressurized, gaseous or vaporous sterilization medium. During both the sterilization and filling phases, the respective container is thereby completely disposed in a chamber in such a way that the interior of the container communicates via the mouth thereof with the interior of this chamber. The sterilization medium is introduced into the container at a distance from the mouth thereof via a filling tube that later serves for filling.

Abstract: A knife and sheath combination including a pivotable mount, whereby, the sheath when empty hangs from the belt with its knife opening facing upward, however, when the knife is inserted into the sheath, the weight of the knife handle causes the sheath to revolve on its mount to a position wherein the knife opening faces downward. This arrangement allows the user to quick-draw the knife with a downward motion but may re-sheath the knife from the top position.
Abstract: A pneumatic circuit for controlling a liquid filler. A pilot air conduit conducts high pressure air to a pilot valve and a back pressure piloted valve. The pilot valve is normally closed so as to prevent the supply of liquid product to a container. High pressure air in the pilot air conduit opens the pilot valve to actuate supply of liquid to the container. A level sensor positioned above the container being filled provides a back pressure signal to the back pressure piloted valve causing it to exhaust the high pressure pilot air from the pilot air conduit causing the pilot valve to close.
Abstract: A handgun holster has a front fold to which a strip of material having a central channel and side flanges is secured along the center line of the channel with the channel facing inwardly to receive and protect a handgun sight when a handgun is inserted into, or removed from, the holster. The strip is otherwise unsecured to the holster and can conform to any holster inside radius.
Abstract: A compact case for retaining a pair of skis and a pair of ski poles has two internal open-ended pockets which retain skis in side-by-side reversed orientations with their bindings nested. Mechanisms are secured to the case between the pockets to engage the bindings of the skis to prevent displacement along the pockets, and structures bear on the skis when the case is closed to press the skis into the pockets. Sets of clips retain the poles in spaced-apart planes located between the skis. The poles are oriented in a compressed X configuration (in side view) crossing over proximate to the bindings of the skis with their basket-bearing ends directed inwardly into the space between the skis and with the handle of each pole inset longitudinally from both the handle and the basket of the other pole. The exterior of the case is molded with forward and rear sets of parallel alternating grooves and ribs.
Abstract: An article carrying system for operative association with an automotive vehicle having an exterior generally horizontal surface, such as a trunk lid or roof, the system comprising a pair of elongated support members or slats which have a configuration which flows conformably and aerodynamically into the surface of the vehicle and which are permanently secured to the vehicle. The support members have longitudinally extending channels for supporting adjustable and/or removable components of the system, including tie downs and cross members which components are also provided with aerodynamic designs compatible with the remainder of the system. Provision is also made for association of components of the system, such as cross members, to be fixedly located on the support members.
Abstract: A fluid fill cap is provided including an intermediate, flexible extensible and retractable bellows housing mounting a cap therein, wherein the cap receives a plurality of spring clip members to maintain the bellows in a compressed configuration. A bottom cap of the organization is formed with a cylindrical conduit adapted for securement to an associated structural component of an automotive internal combustion engine.
Abstract: The filling valve in a counterpressure filling apparatus for admission of liquids into bottles or other types of containers having open upper ends is provided with a sleeve which can descend toward an empty container below the valve and carries a deformable internal annular sealing element which is movable into sealing engagement with the external surface of the open end to center the container. The sealing element is thereupon acted upon by a gaseous fluid to bear against the external surface and to establish a reliable seal during subsequent or simultaneous admission of a pressurized gaseous fluid which precedes the admission of a metered quantity of liquid whereby the liquid expels the gaseous fluid along the same path which serves for admission of pressurized gaseous fluid into the container.
Abstract: A method of charging a battery with electrolyte, utilizing a container having a supply of electrolyte therein and a number of outlet spouts which are simultaneously inserted into the battery cells while the battery is on its side such that when the battery is moved to upright position the electrolyte simultaneously pours into the battery cells from the spouts respectively. The container has a plurality of cells communicating with the spouts respectively and a conduit in the container interconnects all of the cells of the container.
Abstract: Filling valves for counterpressure filling of containers with carbonated liquids. The filling valves comprise valve bodies for conducting the carbonated liquids to the container from an external reservoir, the valve body having an end from which the carbonated liquid is dispensed to the container. The valves further comprise counterpressure valves movably mounted in the valve body for controlling the flow of counterpressure gas to the containers. Vent tubes mounted in the valve bodies through the dispensing end of the valve bodies, the vent tubes being slidable with respect to the valve bodies from a retracted position to an extended position in the containers in response to the counterpressure gas are provided. Pressure relief passages interfaced through the valve bodies for venting gas from the valves after the liquid has filled the containers whereby movement of the vent tubes from the extended position to the retracted position is substantially unimpeded are further provided.

Abstract: A funnel-adapter that allows one to fill up a large pitcher or jug directly from the ice or water dispensing unit of a conventional water/ice dispenser unit of a refrigerator. The funnel-adapter has a main, curved-shaped, hollow main frame that is opened at its top and at its bottom. The curvature of the adapter is such that the horizontal lower open end is offset from the horizontal, upper open end, so that when the upper open end is inserted into a water/ice dispenser of a refrigerator and pushed against one of the actuator switches for causing the dispensing of ice or water, the lower open end will be horizontally spaced outwardly of the air space of the water/ice dispenser, so that a large pitcher or container, to be filled with water or ice, may be located directly under the lower open end for funneling the dispensed water or ice into the interior volume of the pitcher or container.
Abstract: The invention is directed to a filling arrangement for filling and emptying an anesthetic vaporizer with an anesthetic liquid from a supply vessel via a filling channel and a venting channel. The filling arrangement includes a connecting piece for connecting the arrangement to the anesthetic vaporizer and has a blocking device mounted in a conduit member which includes the filling channel and venting channel. The filling arrangement is improved so that it can be reliably handled with anesthetic liquids having a low boiling point. For this purpose, the blocking device includes a temperature-sensitive switching member which enables the filling channel to be opened below a preselected limit temperature and to be closed above this preselected temperature. The preselected temperature is below the boiling point of the anesthetic liquid.
