  • Patent number: 10210423
Abstract: Object identification through image matching can utilize ratio and other data to accurately identify objects having relatively few feature points otherwise useful for identifying objects. An initial image analysis attempts to locate a “scalar” in the image, such as may include a label, text, icon, or other identifier that can help to narrow a classification of the search, as well as to provide a frame of reference for relative measurements obtained from the image. By comparing the ratios of dimensions of the scalar with other dimensions of the object, it is possible to discriminate between objects containing that scalar in a way that is relatively robust to changes in viewpoint. A ratio signature can be generated for an object for use in matching, while in other embodiments a classification can identify priority ratios that can be used to more accurately identify objects in that classification.

  • Patent number: 10074039
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a first obtaining unit to obtain a number of images in which a pair of a first person and a second person simultaneously appears, out of a plurality of images. A detection unit detects whether the pair appears in a target image group, which is one of a plurality of image groups into which the plurality of images is classified. In determining whether the pair appears in the target image group, it is determined that the pair appears in the target image group not only in a case when the target image group includes an image in which the first person and the second person simultaneously appear, but also, in a case when the target image group includes images in which the first person and the second person appear separately.

  • Patent number: 10068129
Abstract: Methods and systems for recognizing people in images with increased accuracy are disclosed. In particular, the methods and systems divide images into a plurality of clusters based on common characteristics of the images. The methods and systems also determine an image cluster to which an image with an unknown person instance most corresponds. One or more embodiments determine a probability that the unknown person instance is each known person instance in the image cluster using a trained cluster classifier of the image cluster. Optionally, the methods and systems determine context weights for each combination of an unknown person instance and each known person instance using a conditional random field algorithm based on a plurality of context cues associated with the unknown person instance and the known person instances. The methods and systems calculate a contextual probability based on the cluster-based probabilities and context weights to identify the unknown person instance.

  • Patent number: 10062005
Abstract: A method of matching images A and B of the same scene taken at different locations in the scene is provided by matching correspondence points in the image by evaluating pixel characteristics from nearby regions using a constellation of image chips and utilizing joint information across multiple resolution levels in a probability framework. Since each image chip is small, each chip in one image potentially can be matched with a number of chips in the other image. The accumulation of evidence (probability) over all image chips within the constellation over multiple resolution levels reduces the ambiguity. The use of a constellation of image chips removes the requirement present in most visual point matching techniques to special feature points (e.g. corner points) as the correspondence points.
