    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of converting a communication channel in a mobile communication terminal. According to the invention, the specific absorption rate (SAR) value information according to each of the communication channels are stored and managed in the mobile communication terminal, so that a communication channel having a relatively low SAR can be assigned from a new base station when there occurs a handoff or a call processing for a call incoming/originating is performed. Like this, the newly assigned communication channel is converted into a communication channel of the terminal, thereby minimizing an effect of the electromagnetic wave influencing on the user of the terminal during the communication. In addition, the SAR value information according to each of the communication channels are stored and managed in the mobile communication terminal, so that it is possible to indicate the SAR of the current communication channel of the terminal to the user.

    Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention may be found in a method and system for antenna selection diversity with prediction. An antenna diversity system may use information that it has stored on the antenna selection process in previous frames to predict the starting receiving antenna and the starting transmission antenna for the next frame. The prediction may be based on which antennas were selected in previous frames or may be based metrics associated with performance of the antennas. Prediction may be based on a majority polling scheme of previously selected antennas in a determined number of previous frames. Prediction may also be based on a weighted sum of at least one selection metric for all antennas in a determined number of previous frames. Antenna prediction provides a significant performance improvement by reducing the processing and operational overhead in cases where a transmit or a receive antenna dominates.

    Abstract: Improved DC cancellation in zero-IF receivers for eliminating the DC offset that otherwise would be caused by the AC voltage on a coupling capacitor at the time of switching from AC coupling to DC coupling. The coupling capacitor normally is connected first as a high pass filter to block any DC component, and then directly coupled as a direct or DC coupler. However any AC component of voltage on the coupling capacitor at the moment of switching normally remains as a DC offset. In accordance with the invention, the component of AC voltage on a coupling capacitor is tracked, and when switched to DC coupling, the component of AC voltage on the capacitor at the time of switching is held and subtracted from the signal path, thereby canceling the DC offset component that otherwise would be caused. Alternate embodiments are disclosed, including embodiments for accelerating capacitance charging for speed-up of the method.
