  • Patent number: 11361511
Abstract: A method, a mixed reality (MR) system, and a recording medium for detecting a real-world light source in MR are provided. The method is applicable to the MR system having a computing apparatus and a head-mounted display (HMD). In the method, a plurality of light regions of a plurality of continuous images is analyzed, and each of the light regions is projected according to a coordinate position of the HMD corresponding to the plurality of continuous images to generate three-dimensional vectors. Then, the three-dimensional vectors are clustered to predict a directional light in a current image. Finally, a plurality of intersection points between the three-dimensional vectors is calculated, and a point light in the current image is predicted according to the intersection points.

  • Patent number: 11315326
Abstract: A processing system of a mobile device may determine the device's predicted viewport, which defines a portion of a real world environment that is expected to be visible to the device's user at a future time. The processing system may determine a set of extended reality anchors that are present in the real world environment, where each anchor stores a digital object that, when rendered by the device and presented to the user simultaneously with the real world environment, creates extended reality media. The processing system may remove a first subset anchors from the set, where locations of anchors in the first subset fall outside a threshold distance from the predicted viewport. The removing results in a second subset of anchors remaining in the set. The processing system may download a digital object from a second device, where the digital object is stored by an anchor of the second subset.

  • Patent number: 11275662
Abstract: Unavoidable physical phenomena, such as an alpha particle strikes, can cause soft errors in integrated circuits. Materials that emit alpha particles are ubiquitous, and higher energy cosmic particles penetrate the atmosphere and also cause soft errors. Some soft errors have no consequence, but others can cause an integrated circuit to malfunction. In some applications (e.g. driverless cars), proper operation of integrated circuits is critical to human life and safety. To minimize or eliminate the likelihood of a soft error becoming a serious malfunction, detailed assessment of individual potential soft errors and subsequent processor behavior is necessary. Embodiments of the present disclosure facilitate emulating a plurality of different, specific soft errors. Resilience may be assessed over the plurality of soft errors and application code may be advantageously engineered to improve resilience.

  • Patent number: 11205296
Abstract: Rendering multi-dimensional data in a polyhedron, such as a cube, in a 3D environment allows for the ease of visualization of, and interaction with, the underlying data. The approaches herein allow for 3D manipulation of records within the underlying data by filtering the records across elements of a particular dimension. These records may be filtered by physically grabbing a ‘drawer’—a slice of data within the polyhedron—and removing the drawer to a separate space. That drawer then represents all of the underlying records filtered by that slice, and can be further manipulated by additional filtering, or by merging multiple drawers together.

  • Patent number: 11043010
Abstract: A processing unit, method, and medium for decompressing or generating textures within a graphics processing unit (GPU). The textures are compressed with a variable-rate compression scheme such as JPEG. The compressed textures are retrieved from system memory and transferred to local cache memory on the GPU without first being decompressed. A table is utilized by the cache to locate individual blocks within the compressed texture. A decompressing shader processor receives compressed blocks and then performs on-the-fly decompression of the blocks. The decompressed blocks are then processed as usual by a texture consuming shader processor of the GPU.
