  • Patent number: 5419643
Abstract: The present invention aims at performing in a simple manner the replacement of an ink ribbon contained in an ink ribbon cassette. To this end, the attachment 11 for ink ribbon replacement according to the present invention is provided with a table portion 12 for resting the ink ribbon cassette thereon. On the upper surface of the table portion 12 is provided a positioning member 13 for positioning the ink ribbon cassette and are also provided projections 16 for pushing retaining members 10 which hold upper and lower cassette cases 6b, 6a integrally with each other, to release the engagement of both cassette cases. When the ink ribbon cassette is put on the attachment 11 for ink ribbon replacement, the retaining members 10 of the ink ribbon cassette are pushed by the projections 16 of the attachment to thereby disengage the upper and lower cassette cases 6b, 6a of the ink ribbon cassette from each other.

  • Patent number: 5419756
Abstract: A traction bar for use in combination with a hand wrap or hand and arm wraps for suspending and orienting a patient's hand and arm in a substantially elevated position during a surgical procedure and for maintaining a patient's hand and arm in that orientation and location without unduly constricting circulation in the patient's hand or arm. The hand wrap is attached about the patient's closed fist and the traction bar is bendable and includes VELCRO hook material so that the traction bar may be conformed to the hand and attach itself securely in place to the top and two opposing side surfaces of the hand wrapped fist so that rotational or traction forces may be applied to the hand and arm. In this configuration, the lifting and orientation forces do not exert excess pressure at a particular position such as on the patient's wrist, so that the flow of blood to and from the patient's hand and fingers is not constricted.

  • Patent number: 5419645
Abstract: A cassette for feeding envelopes to a printer. The cassette includes an elevator mechanism for continuously raising a stack of envelopes to maintain contact with a feed mechanism in the printer as envelopes are fed from the stack. The elevator pivots vertically around its back edge and is hinged to rotate orthogonally to the direction in which the envelopes are fed. The orthogonal rotation allows the envelope to remain horizontal even through the stack of flaps is thicker along its flap edge.

  • Patent number: 5415479
Abstract: An impact printing device for printing postal bar code patterns on an information carrier. The patterns are a combination of parallel tall and short bars separated by spaces. The type elements are attached to a movable type carrier, each element comprised of pairs of vertical bars having different stroke lengths but equal widths. Additionally these elements contain overscored and/or underscored horizontal bars, that when printed appear outside the postal bar code clear space. This produces print elements that have nearly equal area and in turn produce printed characters of uniform stroke widths that are easily read by the U.S. Postal Service electronic readers.

  • Patent number: 5048414
Abstract: Described herein is an automatic stamper for imprinting desired letters or characters on documents, which is of the type including a printing block having a plural number of stamp units mounted around the circumference of a drum, a support frame rotatably and detachably supporting the printing block, and a base structure having a document support surface and supporting thereon the support frame movably for a reciprocal movement toward and away from the document support surface. The stamp units are detachably mounted on stamp support surfaces on and around the circumferences of the drum such that the longitudinal axes of the respective stamp units are disposed parallel with the axis of the drum for the sake of compact construction, while the support frame is automatically driven from an electric motor which is adapted to be closed upon setting a document on the document support surface.

  • Patent number: 4962703
Abstract: An automatic contact ink stamping assembly characterized by repetitive movement of the die stamping surface between inverted positions defining an ink supply and a printing position. The apparatus is characterized by a stamping die assembly pivotally mounted to a carrier block reciprocally driven by a piston and cylinder assembly between the ink supply and printing position. The die assembly is provided with an upstanding ear having a cam surface which engages a rotatably mounted wheel in a manner to cause the die assembly to pivot 180 degrees responsive to the stroke of the piston and to align the die stamping surface in an accurate position perpendicular to the axis of said piston in both the ink supply and printing position.
